SCRIPT FOR IGNIS VOLUNTEERS

Greetings of the day,


Respected Judges, participants and volunteers.
We welcome you all to the 1st Vivekananda International Debate Competition 2022
organised by IGNIS: The debating society of Vivekananda School of Law and Legal
Studies The theme of the competition is Artificial Intelligence and Data Breach. And the
theme for the preliminary round is
“THBT INCREASING AUTOMATION DETERIORATES THE QUALITY OF HUMAN
LIFE”.
A few housekeeping rules before we commence the competition:
The indication of timings for the convenience of the participants will be done thrice.
Participants will be informed firstly when 4 minutes are over and 1 minute is left. And finally,
the participants will be informed when the time is up. Both the teams will get 90 seconds for
rebuttal and surrebuttal respectively.

(if they still continue, intervene and say: Sir/ Ma’am, your time is up.”
And now the Rules for the preliminary round are as follows:
1. The competition will be conducted in English language only.
2. The participants are requested to remain muted during the competition until they are
called upon to present their arguments in accordance with their team codes.
3. Reading out the speech from paper or use of any book, document, or electric gadget
during the debate is not allowed. However, one can carry a short note for reference.
4. The participants should ensure proper network connectivity throughout the competition.
The host institute shall not be responsible for any issue(s) arising out of technical glitches
from the participants' side. Entertainment of any grievance(s) arising out of such issue(s)
shall be decided upon by the sole discretion of the Dispute Resolution Committee.
5. The participants must ensure that they are positioned in a well-lit room and ideally in a
silent space without any background noise during the competition. It is mandatory for all
the participants to turn their videos on during the competition.
6. The participants must refrain from disclosing their identities and their
affiliations/institution till the end of the competition and at all times shall represent
themselves by means of their respective speaking codes/slot numbers allotted to them
during the course of the competition.
7. Use of unparliamentary language/signs will lead to immediate disqualification or non-
consideration of marking.
8. In Preliminary rounds each team is allocated a total of 10 minutes. Further, each
participant is allocated a time of 5 minutes per speaker and 1.5 minutes rebuttal time for
each team.

Octa Finals
We congratulate you for qualifying the Preliminary rounds and apprise you that all of you
have now a part of our Octa finals round in 2 v 2 debate format.
Each team is allocated a total of 12 minutes, each speaker time being 6 minutes and 2 minutes
per team are granted for rebuttal arguments.
(TEAMS are allocated a maximum of ------ minutes with each speaker's time being ---- minutes.)
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

The indication of timings for the convivence of the participants will be done thrice.
Participants will be informed firstly at the time interval of 4 minutes left then the participants
will be further informed when 2 minutes are left and then they will be finally apprised when
Time is over.
(Participants can speak for a maximum of thirty seconds extra. In case of extension, the
participant shall be stopped.)

The Judges shall be requested to fill the form after every participant has spoken.
Judges are requested to fill the scoresheet.
