GENERAL CLASS ROOM POLICY / ONLINE CLASS POLICY

The following stipulations are the general provisions on classroom decorum (ONLINE
CLASS DISCUSSION), policies with regards to course requirements and miscellaneous
rules and regulations. Every student enrolled in this course is expected to comply with
these stipulations should there be any infraction of these general rules and regulations
there will be corresponding sanctions.

A. ATTENDANCE

1. There is no such thing as an excused ABSENCE as per CHED Memorandum


Circular for Standard Guidelines for Engineering Programs.

2. A student is allowed to incur 20% of the total meetings per semester. A


sample computation of the number of allowable absences is given below: (Note: I
will consider you as absent if you did not take Seatwork every after topic.)

3. A student who incurs absences beyond the allowable will be marked as follows:

6.00 If the 20% was exceeded before the Midterm


OFFICIALLY Examination or after the Midterm Examination
DROPPED provided that the student has a passing Midterm
Grade and the instructor concerned was notified in
writing by the student
7.00 If the 20% limit was exceeded before the Midterm
UNOFFICIALL Examination or after the Midterm Examination
Y DROPPED provided that the student has a passing Midterm
Grade and the instructor concerned was NOT
notified in writing by the student.

5.00 If the 20% limit was exceeded after the Midterm


FAILED Examination and the student has a failing Midterm
Grade.
4. In synchronous, checking of attendance will start before and after the live
discussion. In asynchronous, checking of attendance will be based on the
activities.

B. GRADING SYSTEM

The grades for each term can be computed using the formula given below:

Class standing will consist of the following:

Quizzes 70%
Assignments/ 20%
Discussions
Recitation 10%
Total 100%
DETAILS:

1. Quizzes/ Major Exams


Quizzes shall be announced prior to the actual date; this is to give students
ample time to prepare. In any event that a student is not able to take the quiz on
the said date, informing instructor/professor is required.

Late Quizzes: minus 20% for every 24hrs late after the due date

2. Recitations
For the Recitation, a common problem will be given to the students.
They will be given time to answer the questions or solve the
problem. It will be published in “Discussion” section.

Late Recitation/Seatwork: minus 20% for every 24hrs late after the due date

3. Assignments/Plate

 Assignments can should be handwritten based on engineering lettering.


 Submit your assignment in ONE FILE ONLY (pdf). You can use
the free mobile scanner application.

Format for the assignment is as follow:


a) Should have a borderline and also in the succeeding pages
b) Should have a cover page with the format

Grading for your Assignment

 Grading for your Assignment will be based on Rubrics indicated on


Canvas.

Late Assignment: minus 20% for every 24hrs late after the due date

RULES TO BE FOLLOWED INSIDE THE CLASSROOM

 You are required to be online and logged in to Canvas


during your class hours (synchronous and asynchronous
hours)
 During roll-call attendance checking, you are encouraged to open your
cameras.
 Maintain a pleasant appearance on camera. Wearing of the school
uniform during online sessions is not required. However, it is expected
that you look decent and presentable. Please wear t-shirts or collared
shirts with sleeves for your upper body attire.
 Once you log in to the conference, be sure to mute your microphone.
Also, check your microphone from time to time if it is muted to eliminate
background noise that could distract others especially during discussions.
 If you have any questions or clarifications during the online conference,
do not hesitate to type your questions in our ‘Public Chat’. You can also
send a private message to your instructor in BBB.
 If the teacher’s audio is problematic or unclear, inform the teacher right
away by speaking.
 If a student has concerns and needs to talk to the instructor, he/she can
message the instructor thru the Canvas LMS and not thru his/her social
media platforms. Professional boundaries should be observed.
 You are required to be online during the schedule of your Online Class.
 Have your pens, paper, textbooks, calculator, and other learning
materials ready, as needed
 Students are expected to be professional and respectful of other students
and instructors. That includes verbal and physical behavior as well as the
language used in Canvas.
 Students are responsible for what transpired if they miss a class. It is the
student’s responsibility to contact/ask a classmate to determine what was
missed.
 Be professional when sending a message to your instructor. Always
follow these steps:
1. Always start with a greeting (i.e., Good Morning Sir, Good Day Mam)
2. Introduce yourself. (i.e. “I am (your name) of (section), your student in
(subject)”)
3. State the purpose of your message (i.e. “I would like to ask about”
etc.)
4. End the message with a gratitude.
 Any form of cheating is NOT ALLOWED in the class. Anyone
proved to be cheating shall have a failed grade.
