End of Term Test N°1 Teacher:

Preparatory School School Year: 2022 / 2023 Level: 9th Form

Name: ………….…………………………….…………………………………… Duration: 60 minutes.

TEXT:

1. Brody Rider is a 12-year-old student from Colorado who was left heartbroken after going home with
an unsigned yearbook. Brody is getting a lot of encouraging messages from people around the world.
Many have written letters telling him that he isn't the only one who had no friends or suffered from
bullying*, his mom Cassandra told Fox News. Because of bullying, her son couldn't make friends at
school this past year.

2. At the end of May, the students got their yearbooks. While most went home with signatures and kind
messages, Brody's yearbook was nearly empty. His classmates told him they were too busy and that he
wasn't important. When he got home, he started to cry. Shortly after, Cassandra posted about the
incident in a Facebook group for the parents at the school and asked them to teach their kids how to be
kind.

3. During the school's end-of-year celebration, lots of students lined up to sign Brody's yearbook. "It
was heartwarming. There were more than 100 signatures and everybody had positive things to say,"
Cassandra recalled. However, Brody's story doesn't end there. His mom had the idea of posting their
post office box on Facebook so that anyone could write to him. To date, they have already got at least
600 letters. And the good news is that they are still coming.
