CLASS XII-PROJECT WORK TERM -2 (2021-22)

AUNT JENNIFER’S TIGERS


i. Activities:
● Students must refer to second term units in the prescribed text-books.

● In addition to the above, they must plan their projects and activities after
discussion within their group and with teachers.
● Projects should be based on research material taken from extraneous
sources.
ii.Parameters for Assessment: The listening and speaking skills will be assessed
on the following parameters:

a) Interactive competence (Initiation & turn taking, relevance to the topic).


b) Fluency (cohesion, coherence and speed of delivery).
c) Pronunciation
d) Vocabulary and grammar

iii.Time allotted: 5-7 minutes

Term II: 10 Marks: Project Work + Viva Voce


Out of ten marks allotted for the term, 5 marks will be allotted for the project
report/script/essay etc. and 5 marks for the viva. The Project will be ONE small project work
to be covered in the Term II. However, the planning for the project by students in
consultation with the teachers can begin early.

Suggestions for Project Work:


i. Students can choose a topic on which to do their research/ interview.
SPECIFIC TEXT TAKEN---AUNT JENNIFERS TIGERS

The students can create a project on the theme of this poem titled----
THE CHANGING ROLE/STATUS OF WOMEN –Gender bias, patriarchy can be other related
topics.
This topic can be explored through various ways as a project.eg.
INTERVIEWS-TELEPHONIC OR FACE TO FACE

Student will frame questions based on the preliminary research/background.

The student then conducts interviews with a few immediate neighbours, Grandparents etc.
to understand the changes they have seen in the society around them in relation to the role
of women.
Construct specific qs. to gain insight.eg. -----
1. What was the level of education received?
2.What were the professional areas that women were expected to choose and why?
3.What were their defined roles inside a family setup?

4.What are the changes---specific that they have noticed around them now related to the
issue of women emancipation?

Interview people from specific professional fields to explore the changes in the role of
women

Eg.Defence forces, media

The student will then write an essay/ write up / report etc. up to 1000 words essay on
his/her research and submit it.

He / She will then take a viva on the research project.


The project will end with a presentation and subsequently a viva
ii. Write, direct and present a theatrical production/One act play
This will be a project which will be done as a team. It will involve. In short, various language
skills will be utilised. There will be. Teachers will be able to assess the core language skills of
the students and help them grow as 21st century critical thinkers.

Students can explore the CHANGING ROLE OF WOMEN IN SOCIETY with the help of a play.
They can take up issues of Girl education, Gender bias, Gender inequality, Female foeticide
etc

This will involve- planning, preparation and presentation


i.Researching
ii. discussion
iii. writing the script
iv. auditioning and
v. ultimately producing the play.
The project will end with a presentation and subsequently a viva

REPORT WRITING ON PROJECT WORK


TOPIC: AUNT JENNIFER’S TIGERS

GUIDELINES ON REPORT WRITING:

● Students need to conduct interviews with a few immediate neighbours/ friends/


relatives on women empowerment/ status of women in society/ compare the
urban women class with the rural, various initiatives, campaigns introduced by the
government.

● For an interview, frame questions based on the preliminary research/background/


state of women in the society and changes which have come over. They can pick
excerpts from the interviews given by women celebrities or women organisation
workers or women help at home( maids/ cooks)/ women driving buses and
autorickshaws etc. Have women come a long way or are they still rooted in
orthodoxy? Questions like these can be the basis of their research.

● The student will then collate the entire information and write an essay/ write up /
report etc. up to 1000 words on his/her research and submit it.

● He / She will then take a viva on the research project.

● This project can be done individually or in pairs/ groups.

● Students should do proper research and gather as much information as possible.


They can listen to podcasts/ interviews/radio or a TV documentary on a topic and
prepare a report countering or agreeing with the speakers.

● Group members coordinate and keep communication channels open for interaction.
Gaps ( if any) are filled with the right skill sets by the Team Leader/individual
student.

● The final draft of the project portfolio/ report , (along with the pictures supporting
the research)to be prepared and submitted for evaluation.

● The report should be succinct and coherent.

● Students can showcase their creativity while presenting their report. They can
adopt various ways such as:

o In the form of a narrative


o A mini book- chapters with different headings
o A magazine report

● Viva will be conducted on the report.( 1000 words)

● During the viva teachers will ask the students some questions

● Teachers will observe how students answer the questions that are posed to them.
(Are they able to understand and answer questions independently or can they
answer only when the questions are translated into simple words or repeated? Are
they able to give appropriate responses in a conversation)

● A student with effective interaction skills should be able to answer questions with
relative ease and follow the flow of conversation.

● Students will be assessed on their group/pair/individual presentations on allotted


days.

● Final Viva will be conducted by the External/Internal examiner
