Key leaders included Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany, Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, and King George V of Britain. World War 2 started in 1939 when Germany invaded Poland. Adolf Hitler had risen to power in Germany and wished to expand German territory. In Asia, Japan had invaded China in 1937 and sought to seize European colonies in the Pacific to address Western embargoes, culminating in the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941.

France, Russia, and the British Empire have been allies since 1904, and Germany and
Austria-Hungary have been allies since October 7, 1879. In 1914, Franz Ferdinand was shot by
a Serbian Nationalist while on a tour in Sarajevo, Condominium of Bosnia and Herzegovina,
Austria-Hungary. This prompted Austria-Hungary to investigate, leading to a declaration of war
on Serbia. Serbia was allied with Russia which was allied with France, then declared war on
Austria-Hungary. Austria Hungary which was allied with the German Empire, then declared war
on Russia and France with the support of the German Empire. The British Empire which was
allied with France and Russia, declared war with Austria Hungary, and Germany in return. Many
countries soon joined, either because of personal gains or damages caused by war such with
the Ottoman Empire and the United States.
World War 2

Key people:

Axis Powers:
Benito Mussolini - Italian Dictator
Adolf Hitler - German Dictator
Hirohito - Emperor of Japan
Tojo - Prime Minister of Japan
Paul Von Hindenburg - German Democratic President

Allies:
Neville Chamberlain - British Prime Minister pre-world war 2

Comintern:
Joseph Stalin - USSR Chairman

Narrative:

- Germany was suffering hugely after World War 1, there were huge war payments
to the allies, along with a damaged economy and lost lands. Paul Von
Hindenburg was elected as president, but during his presidency, the Mark, or the
German currency inflated rapidly and the economy was crashing. Mostly due to
the overprinting of money and the great depression.

- Italy was also bitter after World War 1, they were on the winning side but they did
not receive any land as promised. Angered by this, Benito Mussolini created the
Republican Fascist Party, a far right-wing organization. Mussolini then ceased
power from the Italian government and established himself as the leader of the
state. Inspired by this action, a veteran of the war, Adolf Hitler, decided to do the
same and started his own fascist party known as the Nazis.

- Hitler blamed the Jews for the hardship that Germany was experiencing and he
was vocal about eliminating them. Hitler then made a huge power move to take
the chancellorship of Germany from Paul von Hindenburg when the Nazi party
won a majority of the seats in the election.

- Hitler’s first action of business was the stabilization of the German economy and
the re-establishment of the German army. Although one of the parts of the treaty
was that Germany could not field an army larger than 100,000 and had no air
force, Hitler somehow managed to create it. He then decided to invade Austria
which was also fascist at the time, and stated that it was an Anschluss or joining
of the two states in 1936. A few years later, Hitler then started to threat
Czechoslovakia to give Hitler Sudentenland, a highly industrialized part of the
state which was majorly ethnic german. Czechoslovakia initially declined stating
that they where allied with the British and French.

- When Neville Chamberlain heard about the situation, he immediately contacted

Hitler and the president of Czechoslovakia to make a deal. He then stated to the
president that if they wanted to fight Hitler they would have to do it alone,
Chamberlain then forced the president to surrender Sudentenland to the
Germans in exchange that Germany never threatens the peace in the region.
Chamberlain returned to the British Isle with a peace of paper signed by Hitler,
but for Hitler, it was only a piece of paper because a few months later german
tanks would soon drive into Prague without resistance.

- In 1939, Hitler was ready for war, He then contacted Stalin to split up Poland
under the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact. He then launched the operation in August
1939 to invade Poland, which was allied with France and the British, But the
French and the british never really did anything and Poland soon fell under
German and Soviet hands. Germany then soon invaded france, and betrayed the
soviet creating the most deadliest war on the planet.

- In Asia, Japan was also bitter after world war 1, they were also part of the allies
but they only received small islands in the pacific. Japan wanted to expand, and
they invaded China in 1937. Japan was a rising empire and resources such as
rubber and fuel could only be found on south Southeast Asia and the united
states. With the invasion of china, the US then embargoed japan, stopping the
supply of fuel and other raw materials needed by the country. This prompted
japan to create a plan to strike the US naval fleet in the pacific and incapacitate
the US and its ability to fight back.

- The plan includes invading british, american, and dutch colonies such as the
malay peninsula, indonesia, and the philippines. Malay peninsula with its rubber
production, indonesia with its fuel, and the philippines as defensive location. The
plan also involves invading australia and new zealand. On December 1942,
Japan launched its attack on pearl harbor and simultaneously on multiple
locations such as clark, manila, hong kong, and singapore.
