Policy Statement For OSH - English Version
IJM Corporation Berhad and its group of companies acknowledge that protecting the lives of our
people and everyone else affected by our operation from any form of harm is vital to the success of
our business.
We are committed to create, maintain and manage a safe and healthy working environment for our
employees and safeguard the safety of others affected by our operations and services. There is nothing more
important than doing what we do safely.
We believe in placing Health and Safety as a fundamental and integral part of our culture and we seek to
achieve this by:
• Providing effective, visible and exemplary leadership;
• Promoting the right values and mind-set among the employees;
• Promoting the importance of the health and physical, mental and social wellbeing of our employees
within the workplace;
• Promoting two-way communication, effective engagement and participation at all levels of our
workforce, our business partners, our suppliers, and our subcontractors, to promote their
commitment in areas of Occupational Safety and Health which include adherence to IJM’s Policy
Statement on Occupational Safety and Health;
• Providing adequate funds and resources that is required to enable a safe and healthy work
environment, including supervision, training and facilities; and
• Collaborating with industry and other interested parties with a view to influence changes to health
and safety.
IJM Corporation Berhad and its group of companies expect all operations, products and services under the
organization to attain a work environment where no person is exposed to harm, injuries or ill health. In line
with our main guiding principle, “Protecting Lives”, the group will strive to:
• Make every effort to eliminate hazards in Health and Safety where possible at all stages of operation;
• Identify and manage the organizational context, risks and opportunities that may arise as a result of
strategies/activities/products/services within the organization;
• Assess, manage and reduce the level of risks to as low as reasonably practicable;
• Proactively monitor our management system and the organisation’s objectives;
• Ensure compliance to all applicable OSH legal and other requirements;
It is the duty of every employee in the business to:
• Perform his or her job safely;
• Take reasonable care of themselves and others, including members of the public;
• Cooperate with employers or any other person in the discharge of any duty;
• Comply with all applicable Health and Safety requirements;
• Report and take immediate action where practicable if any unsafe act or conditions are discovered;
• Understand their roles and responsibilities with regards to Health and Safety at the workplace; and
• Practice the right values to help create a strong HSE culture.
We shall ensure that all these requirements are defined within our Health, Safety and Environment
Management System, which has been established to meet the needs and expectations of our stakeholders.
The organisation will seek to continually improve the system; strong support and exemplary professionalism
from all employees are however essential towards making it truly effective.
