LABORATORY ACTIVITY
Digestive System
Lab Activity

I. Introduction:
Digestive system is the system that are made of different organ that is responsible for
digestion both physical and chemical until the food is transformed into absorbable particle
then assimilated by the body and converted by metabolism, and eliminate the waste materials
to protect the body, in order for this process to proceed the food has to pass and be
transformed by the organs of the digestive system

II. Objectives:
A. Determine the parts and location of the different organ of the digestive system
B. Determine the histological features of the organ of the digestive system
C. Determine the function of the different organ

III. Materials Needed:

Materials •
Models and diagram of the Digestive system
Books or atlas

IV. Procedure:
Label the diagram using atlas and model

HUMAN HISTOLOGY LECTURE

Name the layers of the GI tract that are described.

Muscularis 1. The layer that contracts to churn food or move food along
Mucosa 2. Layer consisting of a membrane that lines a body cavity that opens to the
exterior; overlays smooth muscle
Submucosa 3. Areolar connective tissue layer located deep to the mucosa
Serosa 4. A serous membrane that is the external layer of a GI tract organ
