Stitch explanation
Decrease (sc2tog) - Insert hook into st and draw up a loop. Insert hook into next st and draw up a
loop. Yarn over, draw through all 3 loops on hook. 2
3 double crochet cluster – (Yarn over and insert your hook into the stitch. Yarn over and draw up a
loop, yarn over and pull through first two loops on hook) rep 3 times. Yarn over and pull through
all 4 loops on hook.
PATTERN
BODY
Crocheted from top to bottom.
1: Color A. Start 6 sc in a magic ring [6]
2: Work 2 sc in each st around [12]
3: (Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 times [18]
4: (Sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 times [24]
5-8: Sc in each st around
9: (Sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 times [30]
10: (Sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 times [36]
Insert the safety eyes between rounds 6 and 7. Insert the first eye, then count 4 holes to the left
and insert the second eye in the next hole. Close the safety eyes with washers on the inside of the
work.
Stuff the piece with fiberfill. Insert the plastic rattle inside. Add some stuffing to the sides if
needed.
LONG TAIL
1: Color B. Start 6 sc in a magic ring [6]
2: Work 2 sc in each st around [12]
3-6: Sc in each st around
7: (Sc in next st, sc2tog) rep 4 times [8]
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Flatten the top and sew closed with a couple of stitches.
SHORT TAIL
1: Color C. Start 6 sc in a magic ring [6]
2: Work 2 sc in each st around [12]
3-4: Sc in each st around
5: (Sc in next st, sc2tog) rep 4 times [8]
6-7: Sc in each st around
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Flatten the top and sew closed with a couple of stitches.
Attach the longer tail at the back between rounds 16 and 17, and the shorter tail between rounds
15 and 16.

BEAK
1: Start a magic ring with color C, ch 2.
Work 3 double crochet cluster into the ring.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew the wings between rounds 9 and 10. Attach them
with a couple of stitches to the sides of the body as well.
Instead of weaving in the yarn tails of the wings pull them out at the top of the head to make a
crest. Cut the yarn ends shorter and split the thread ends with a darning needle. 6
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew the cover around the wooden ring.
TIP! You may need to adjust the number of rows according to your work and the ring
measurement. It`s important the cover not to fit the ring too loosely. It`s better if the seam
pulls it tightly around the ring.
FLOWER

1: Color C. Start 5 sc in a magic ring, sl st in the first st [5].
Leave a long tail of color C for attaching the flower later on.
2: Color B. (Ch 1. Work 2 hdc in the same st, sl st in next st) rep 5 times.
