Definition of Heroism Essay
Crafting an essay on the theme of heroism presents both a captivating and challenging endeavor. At
its core, heroism encompasses a multitude of facets, making it a nuanced and subjective concept.
Defining heroism requires delving into cultural, historical, and individual perspectives, which often
leads to a complex web of interpretations.
One of the primary difficulties lies in navigating the diverse manifestations of heroism across various
cultures and epochs. From ancient mythological figures to contemporary real-life heroes, the
spectrum is vast and intricate. This necessitates a thorough exploration of the contextual nuances that
shape perceptions of heroism, adding layers of depth to the essay.
Moreover, the evolving nature of societal values introduces another layer of complexity. What might
be considered heroic in one era could be reevaluated or even contested in another. Unraveling these
shifting dynamics demands a meticulous examination of the socio-cultural milieu, injecting a
dynamic element into the narrative.
The personal dimension of heroism further complicates the task. Individuals often have their own
heroes, drawn from diverse fields like sports, politics, or everyday life. This subjective lens requires
an empathetic approach to understand the emotional and psychological dimensions that underpin
personal heroism.
Furthermore, crafting an impactful essay involves more than just defining heroism; it requires an
exploration of its implications and applications. Addressing questions such as the role of heroism in
shaping societies, inspiring change, or its portrayal in various art forms adds layers of depth and
analysis.
In conclusion, the challenge lies not just in providing a concise definition of heroism but in
navigating the intricate interplay of cultural, historical, and individual perspectives. As the essay
unfolds, it must weave together these multifaceted threads into a coherent and compelling narrative.
Tackling the complexities of heroism demands a blend of research, critical thinking, and a keen
understanding of the diverse contexts that shape this timeless concept.

How Did Hurricane Hugo Affect South Carolina
Hurricane Hugo affected South Carolina and also perturbed the Atlantic Ocean,
devastating the Caribbean Islands of St. Croix and Puerto Rico in September 1989. This
phenomenon was responsible for 86 fatalities around the impacted lands where people
were not educated or prepared enough for this natural disaster. Hugo quickly strengthened
into a category five hurricane with sustained winds of 160 mph. Eventually it lost it
strengthen when passing through the high terrain of Puerto Rico. Then the unpredictable
event happens, when the eye of the hurricane wasn t visible for about a day. By
September 20th the eye was once again visible and the hurricane was better organized

The Developmental Impact Of Technology On Today s Society
The Developmental Impact of Technology on Today s Society
Society has become slaves to technology. Our society depends so greatly on technology
that we have lost the ability of face to face communication. Nowadays all you see are
people with their face stuck in their phones or latest gadgets and being oblivious to the
world. The obsession and need to use technology affects every developmental stage. The
affect starts at the young age of infancy and continues into childhood, adolescence, and
adulthood. It may have a greater effect on one developmental stage over the other, but it
is clear the technology effects even the youngest child. A person may not see an infant as
being able to be affected by technology but with all the technological advances in today
s world even infants are impacted. Imagine looking around and seeing a cute baby and
their mother, but something is different, the baby is occupied by a bright lit touch phone
instead of a baby toy and the mother is paying no attention to the infant. This a much
more common sight today than it was 15 years ago. Mothers are occupying their infants
by handing them their iPhones or android devices instead of playing with them. This is
taking away from the infants learning. Parents would rather calm a fussy baby by giving
them a phone or tablet rather than actually trying to calm them down. According to Dr.
Jim Taylor (2010) when children get bored, cranky, or bothersome, their parents
immediately give them their iPhone,
Volunteering Habitat For Community Service
Volunteering is a great way to get service hours and to help your community. There are
many opportunities to volunteer in our modern day community. You can volunteer at
animal shelters, soup kitchens, organizations for disabilities, food pantries, and
organizations. Some of the organizations you can volunteer at are Habitat for Humanity,
Joseph Maley Foundation, the Humane Society, and Gleaners Food Bank. There are
many other organizations that you can volunteer for, however. I think that I would like to
volunteer at the Joseph Maley Foundation. I have done JMFriends Puppet Troupe,
Service Day, and disABILITY Awareness through this organization. In my opinion, I
think that this is a really great organization through their outreach to families... Show

I know that they build houses to improve housing conditions, and they build them with
the help of the volunteers that they get. I think that this will be an enjoyable project,
because you would be making a very visible difference in your community that will
help other people. Habitat for Humanity has their organization spread throughout the
world, in places such as the United States, Canada, Asia, the Pacific, Europe, Africa,
the Middle East, the Caribbean, and Latin America. The organization was founded in
1976. The idea for the organization came to the founder in Koinonia Farm, just
outside of Americus, Georgia. Finally, I think that I would like to volunteer at
Gleaners Food Bank. Just like Joseph Maley Foundation, I have volunteered there
before. I volunteered at Gleaners twice, once for HOPE and once for Service Day.
Both of the times we filled bags with food for kids to eat over the weekend, because
their families do not have enough money for food. I think that Gleaners is doing an
amazing job of feeding the hungry in our community. They also have a food pantry
program that gives families groceries every week or so. They are making a not so
visible, but rather large impact on our community through their
Middlemen And Middlewomen
Middlemen and Middlewomen
Middlemen and middlewomen, play a large role in the migration and recruitment of
underage girls and women. The process of recruitment is often deceitful and the bind of
servitude to the middleman occurs through debts, withholding of legal documents such as
passports, signing blank contracts, etc. (Parreñas, 2011). The underage girls and women
are generally young, uneducated and easily manipulated by recruiters (Kara, 2009). The
background of the recruiters varies by gender, type of market they are recruiting for and
whether they are part of a small recruitment network or a large organized crime entity.
Piper (2005) discovered that in the Mekong sub region trafficking resembles more of a
cottage industry where recruiters are often local individuals who have established a
relationship with the families of the recruited girls. On the other hand, the exploitative
services recruited for can vary from prostituting in Rome to bonded labor inside a
factory in India. Additionally, Kara (2009) provides an illustration of broken promises
by recruiters to two underage girls. Julia, now 17 and pregnant, arrived in Rome from
Romania at age 14 (Kara, 2009). She traveled with Alyssa who was also, the same age
(Kara, 2009). They traveled together with the help of a man who promised work in a
restaurant, but instead they ended up as prostitutes in the streets of Rome (Kara, 2009).
A second example, includes the recruitment by sub agents of girls ages
Tetralogy Of Fallot Essay
Having a diagnosis of Tetralogy of Fallot should mean having a death sentence. With an
occurrence rate of 3 in every 10,000, it is the most common cause of cyanotic cardiac
disease. [Wynbrandt, 366] There are four defects that commonly occur together;
ventricular septal defect, hypertrophied right ventricle, malposition of the aorta, and
pulmonary stenosis. For one to be diagnosed as a Tetralogy of Fallot baby, the patient
must present with at least two of the four defects. Any one of these defects can cause
serious catastrophe to the cardiac system. Combining these defects together makes it that
much more complicated for the cardiologist to correct. Without the advancements made
in cardiology, this diagnosis would mean certain death to the postnatal child. The
congenital defects of tetralogy of Fallot was named after a French physician, Louis
Arthur Etienne Fallot in 1888. Fallot referred to the congenital condition as La Maladie
Bleu because of the cyanotic appearance of the patients. [Bailliard, OJRD] Fallot made
significant advances in understanding the defects and how this disrupted the correct blood
flow throughout the body. Fallot is responsible... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Malpositioned simply means that the aorta opens inside the heart in the wrong place. In a
normal, healthy heart, the aorta is connected to the left ventricle, allowing oxygen rich
blood to be pumped throughout the body. In patients suffering from tetralogy of Fallot,
the aorta is slightly shifted to the right. This slight shift places the artery directly over the
ventricular septum defect, which is typically located at the tip of the ventricles. As
previously stated, the VSD allows oxygen rich and oxygen poor blood to mix together.
With the aorta being directly over the VSD, this allows the mixture of blood to be
pumped through the rest of the body, again contributing to the cyanotic presentation of the
