To: Basic Education Department Heads & Teachers

Prefect of Discipline

From: The Office of the School Director

Subject: Cellphone Usage and Charging During Class Hours

Pax et Bonum!

In an effort to maintain a focused and productive learning environment, I would like to address
cellphone use and charging during class hours.

1. General Policy: Students are advised to refrain from using cell phones during class hours to
minimize distractions and enhance concentration on academic activities.
2. Exemptions: The subject teacher may grant students exemptions for specific research purposes.
However, such exemptions should be limited to the necessities of the academic task at hand. This
should be communicated clearly to students and monitored to prevent misuse. Teachers are
encouraged to enforce these guidelines consistently and fairly, ensuring that exemptions are
granted judiciously.
3. Charging of cell phones: Students are encouraged to ensure their cell phones are
adequately charged before the start of class to minimize the need for charging during instructional
time. In cases where students need to charge their cell phones for legitimate reasons, the discreet
use of personal power banks is allowed, provided it does not disrupt the learning environment.
4. Strict Prohibitions: Online gaming is always strictly prohibited, both for students and teachers,
even during vacant times inside the classrooms. I would advise students to utilize vacant time for
more productive endeavors such as working on research assignments or studying lessons.
5. Mechanisms for Cellphone Surrender: Respective principals and the Prefect of Discipline
are advised to craft mechanisms for surrendering cellphones that are applicable and well-received
by the students. These mechanisms should be communicated clearly and implemented effectively.

I believe that these measures will contribute to a more focused and productive learning atmosphere.
Your cooperation in adhering to these guidelines and crafting effective mechanisms for cellphone
surrender is crucial for the overall success of our educational environment.

Thank you for your understanding and commitment to maintaining a conducive learning environment.

Fraternally yours,

Fr. Jumil Jomoc Alcasoda, OFM
