2. SAFETy INSTRUCTIONS
The present operating manual must be read completely before starting up the
equipment. Lack of knowledge about proper operation and maintenance of the
screening generator could result in the equipment being damaged.
The operating manual should always be kept at hand where the equipment is
installed. Additional copies can be ordered at any time from your supplier.
Please use the part number indicated on the cover sheet when ordering.
Modifications, additions or conversions to the equipment which might affect
safety are strictly forbidden without the permission of the manufacturer.
The equipment has been designed in compliance with the currently applicable
regulations. Nevertheless, hazards for the user can arise in the case of improper
use.
Only operate the equipment with the alternating voltage shown on the rating plate
and make sure that the mains connection cables are equipped with protective
earth wires.
Work on electrical installations or equipment must only be carried out by a
qualified electrician or other trained personnel.
Always hold the plug when removing it from the mains socket; never pull on the
cable. Make sure hands are dry before touching the mains plug. If a plug comes
into contact with liquid or is contaminated by screened material, the plug must be
cleaned and particularly dried (e.g. with compressed air) before plugging it in.

3. INSTALLATION
After receipt of the product, check immediately whether the parts listed on the
delivery note are complete and undamaged. Possible damage and missing parts
must be notified to us immediately and confirmed by the transport company on
the delivery papers.
Do not position the installation near heat sources such as heaters or hot air
outlets. Direct sunlight, heavy dust and mechanical vibrations should also be
avoided.
Do not install the ultrasonic generator on oscillating/vibrating elements of your
installation.
Preferably attach the generator to a vertical surface. The mounting of the genera-
tor on a large metal surface such as a steel girder also helps to dissipate heat.

The menus for job selection, job settings, system settings and operation informa-
tion can be invoked using various buttons. These are described in the respective
chapters concerning menu navigation.
In all cases, the SELECT button is used to select menus, and the PLUS / MINUS
buttons are used to navigate in the submenus.
If menus contain values, they can be adjusted using the PLUS and MINUS
buttons.
When changing a value, the display flashes in 5 Hz cycle (fast flashing) until the
change is confirmed. To confirm a change, press the SELECT button again.
In order to return to normal operation, press the SELECT button for at least
2 seconds. The generator automatically returns to normal operation after
30 seconds if there is no further input (SELECT / PLUS or MINUS button).
The job number is now displayed in the running text of the display.
1. Connect the mains cable. If the device will be operated in a potentially explo-
sive environment, please observe the information in the ATEX-appendix.
2. Connect the HF-cable.
3. Switch generator on (press Power ON button). "SCN" is displayed first, then
"Job 00". The generator is now ready and will switch on the ultrasonics auto-
matically. The LED will indicate "Ultrasonic Active"
4. Press US ON button. The ultrasonic switches off and can be started again by
pressing once more the US-ON button.
SCAN: During start-up, i.e. after pressing the POWER ON button, the genera-
tor searches for the resonance frequency of the connected screen.
The search takes approx. 2 seconds. In continuous operation, the generator
periodically performs an adjustment of the operating frequency (approx. every
60 seconds).
The factory settings stored under "Job 00" provide good results for many screen-
ing applications.
If you would like to try out or optimise a different data record (job), please read
the following chapters.

5. Keep pressed for at least 2 seconds Exit from the job settings
menu and the current job number is displayed.
If you do not exit from the submenu using , the generator automatically
returns to the job display after 2 minutes.
The generator works at its operating frequency which was determined by the
scan during start-up. This operating mode is similar to that of the previous
SG-42 model.
Pulse (Pul)
The generator works with a pulsating operating frequency. The pulse frequency
range is from 0.5 – 100 Hz, the pulse duty cycle of 10 – 90%.
The generator operates with various operating frequencies which are activated
sequentially. In doing so, the pulse frequency and the duty cycle can be adjusted
(see above).
The upper power limit defines the maximum power of the respective operating
mode in the specified job.
It can be set between 5 and 200 W. However, the power limit can never be
higher than the set system power.
Example: The system power is set to 50 W. If the setting in the menu is now
increased above 50 W, the display shows the new value in blinking
rhythm (e.g. 80 W). However, when saving the change, 50 W is displayed again
as the system setting does not permit more than 50 W.
The lower power limit defines the minimum power of the respective
operating mode.
Lower power limit range is 0 – 200 W.
Factory setting: 1 W
The pulse frequency defines the cycle of the ultrasonic in the respective
operating mode.
Pulse frequency range is 0.5 – 100 Hz.
Depending on the selection in the "Aln" menu, either the intensity, the job
power limit or the pulse duration can be changed. For settings, see chapter
"Control via the PLC interface".

The PLC interface is equipped with digital inputs and outputs, one analogue
input, one analogue output and the RS-232 communications port for MODBUS
communication.
Using the digital inputs, the ultrasonic can be switched on and the job number
can be selected. To do this, first set in the system settings the function US-ON
(LOn) to OFF (see chapter 9).
They are "ultrasonic active", "generator error" and "load error" signals.
A voltage of 0 - 10 V can be connected to the analogue input of the PLC inter-
face. Please find the voltage values as follows:
The job 00 is selected as the factory setting. If this setting does not produce the
desired results, we recommend the following procedure:
• First try the pulse and the hopping modes (Job No. 00 – 11).
• Change the pulse duty cycle of the selected job.
Shorter duty cycle produces harder pulses on the wire mesh; longer duty cycle
produces continuous excitation.
• If the powder jumps on the screen, reduce the intensity directly using the PLUS
and MINUS buttons.
• The standard resonance "rES" operating mode corresponds the closest to the
continuous mode of the generators SG-40, SG-42 and SG-45. The intensity is
generally higher than with the generators mentioned; therefore reduce the in-
tensity in order to obtain the same screening result.
• The amplitude modulation "And" operating mode is similar to the standard
resonance mode, however brings additional low-frequency oscillations on the
fabric. This can be beneficial for heavy powders.
• The frequency modulation "Fnd" operating mode can lead to excessive heating
of the screening resonator. Therefore, reduce the intensity if possible.
• You can override all the power limits set in the jobs by adjusting the system
power. For example, if you limit the system power to 20 W, you override the job
power limits of 50 W. Thus, you can apply your generator settings to smaller
and larger screens in an easy way.
• In the case of temperature-sensitive products, we recommend the Hopping
Mode HLN with shorter Duty Cycle Pdu. HLN with 53 Hz at 20% duty cycle
(Pdu) has shown very favourable.
• Heavy products >2 t/m³ react very well to lower pulse frequency, 1 – 50 Hz with
Pdu at 50 or 60%.

14. MAINTENANCE
The generator does not require any scheduled maintenance. If repairs are nee-
ded, the device should be sent to the nearest TELSONIC agent.
The periodic check includes examining all connecting cables. As soon as any
damage to the cable insulation is noticed, the affected cable must be replaced
immediately. All fastening screws on the generator and the housing cover must
be tightened.
In the case of external damage to the case, the generator must be shut down.
The front panel must never be damaged with pointed objects, otherwise the dust
protection is no longer guaranteed.
The generator must be cleaned at periodic intervals or when needed. Use for
this purpose a rag moistened with all-purpose cleaner. Switch the device off for
cleaning and put the protective caps on the HF and signal socket.
Load errors are acknowledged after eliminating the cause using the SELECT
button. The system performs a new SCAN.
