Success Story | Orient Processors Pvt. Ltd.
About The Speaker
Pabitra Buragohain, the eldest son of a school teacher, is a first generation entrepreneur. He attained his M.Com.
and MBA degree from Gauhati University with the sole aim of launching an independent enterprise of his own.
Today, he is the Managing Director of the Orient Group of Companies. In recognition of his entrepreneurial skill,
he is a two time recipient of the MSME National Award in 2007 and 2014. He is also the President of a regional
industry association of Northeast called FINER and an executive member of FICCI.
About The Company
Orient Group of Companies consists of three units. Orient Processors Pvt Ltd, established in 2001,
is an ISO 9001-2015 certified cotton post spinning and package dyeing unit with state of the art
machineries imported from Italy, Germany and Hong Kong. Both its products – Ramdhenu and
Reishmi – are highly respected in the market. Equipped with the best and the latest technologies, it
has brought about a ground-breaking revolution to the weaving industry of North East India.
The Orient Spun Silk and Processing Mill produces eri, muga (golden thread) and mulberry silk.
Generally, eri and muga silk found in the markets are uneven because it is handspun. In the case of
mulberry yarn, fast colour is not available and dyed warp and weft doesn’t match in shade. The
company has been able to eliminate all these defects through this modern unit.
With all varieties of yarn at hand, a third composite unit - Orient KnitFab Pvt Ltd – was started
consisting of handloom, power loom, knitting and garmenting. The production of the handloom
section has begun and the construction of the power loom section will follow post the pandemic.
