DIFFERENT TYPE OF GRAINS
Wheat - a grass widely cultivated for its seed, a cereal grain
that is a worldwide staple food. The many species of wheat together make up the genus Triticum; the most widely grown is common wheat. a cereal grain that yields a fine white flour used chiefly in breads, baked goods (such as cakes and crackers), and pastas (such as macaroni or spaghetti), and is important in animal feeds.
Rice - the seed of the grass species Oryza sativa or less
commonly Oryza glaberrima. The name wild rice is usually used for species of the genera Zizania and Porteresia, both wild and domesticated, although the term may also be used for primitive or uncultivated varieties of Oryza. Rice (Oryza sativa is the most important cereal crop in the developing world and is the staple food of over half the world's population
Barley - a cereal grain with a chewy texture and mild,
nutty flavor. It's the seed of a type of grass that grows in temperate climates throughout the world and one of the first grains to have been farmed by ancient civilizations.
Oats - The oat, sometimes called the common oat, is a
species of cereal grain grown for its seed, which is known by the same name. While oats are suitable for human consumption as oatmeal and rolled oats, one of the most common uses is as livestock feed. Quinoa - is a flowering plant in the amaranth family. It is a herbaceous annual plant grown as a crop primarily for its edible seeds; the seeds are rich in protein, dietary fiber, B vitamins, and dietary minerals in amounts greater than in many grains. In foods, quinoa is used to make flour, soups, and beer. Quinoa is also used in foods to replace grains like wheat for people who need to avoid gluten, like those with celiac disease.
Rye - used for flour, rye bread, rye beer, and
crispbread. It can also be eaten whole, as either boiled rye berries or rolled, similar to rolled oats. Rye bread, including pumpernickel, is a widely eaten food in Northern and Eastern Europe. Rye is also used to make crispbread.Rye is a grass grown extensively as a grain, a cover crop and a forage crop. It is a member of the wheat tribe and is closely related to both wheat and barley. Rye grain is used for flour, bread, beer, crispbread, some whiskeys, some vodkas, and animal fodder.
Millet - Millet is one of the oldest cultivated grains in
the world and has been grown throughout Africa and Southeast Asia for thousands of years. Millet can be used to make bread, beer, cereal, and other dishes. Even today, millet is a staple food around the world. PORTFOLIO IN T.L.E Submitted by: James G. Navarro Submitted to: Mrs. Shirley R. Tapallas Section: 10 - Sapphire
