2. what is an integer?
3. what are the two (2) signs used in the figure of integer?
5. what is the sign used when the integer is less than zero?
B. Establishing a purpose for The teacher will show different steps for the learners to copy and
the Lesson/ Motivation incorporate it with music.
C. Presenting What is a FRACTION?
examples/instances of the
Lesson To answer the question…..
1. ½
- The number 1 in the 1st example is the numerator while the
number 2 is the denominator.
2. ¾
- Same as the first example, the number 3 is the numerator
while the number 4 is the denominator.
How about this another example?
1. 4 3/5
-in this example, the number 4 is called the whole number
and the number 3 the line is the numerator while the
number 5 is the denominator.
D. Discussing new concepts Types of a Fraction
and practicing new skills #1
1. Proper Fraction
- It is has a numerator less than the denominator, and its
value is always less than one.
Example:
1/3, 2/4, 1/5, 6/13 are proper fractions.
2. Improper Fraction
- Has a numerator greater or equal to the denominator, and
equal or greater than a whole number.
Example:
3/2, 16/8 100/50 are improper fractions.
3. Mixed Numbers
- It has two parts : the whole number part, and the fractional
part which is less than one whole. Mixed numbers are also
known as mixed fractions.
Example:
1 ½ or 3 3/4 are example of mixed numbers.
1
Convert 4 to an improper fraction.
2
4x2=8
2. Add the numerator to the product. The sum is the new
numerator.
8+1=9
3. Retain the denominator.

F. Developing Mastery The teacher will ask the learners about the lesson that has been
(Leads to Formative tackled.
Assessment) What is fraction?
What are the parts of a Fraction?
What are the kinds of a fractions?
What is a proper fraction?
What is an improper fraction?
What is a mixed number?
G. Making generalizations and To identify the fractions and understand how to convert a mixed
abstraction about the lesson number to improper fraction, you must have to know;
1. What is the fraction.
2. How does the fraction works
3. Then, you should know how the types of fraction can help
you identify the process of converting.
4. To make it more realistic you may look or see real life
situations that has the same function like fractions you
have learned.
