such as the nature of the structure, applied loads, ground conditions, environmental conditions,
etc.
The most important part of the structure is the foundation. Therefore, special attention shall be
made when finalizing the foundation. The main factors affecting the foundations are 1.
Applied loads, 2. Nature of the structures, & 3. Soil Condition.
In the case of this project, the 1 st two factors are known and calculated. The 3 rd and most
important factor is to be cleared before the actual execution of work at the site. Soil type and
its bearing capacity are the most important to calculate the type of foundations for vertical
structures.
If soil is weak, even in a small building, it will require ground improvements. When it is not
possible to have an adequate bearing capacity in the existing design provided, we have to
construct the building on the revised foundations. If foundations are not designed properly
without taking into account the bearing capacity foundation failures will occur.
The most challenging task of the building foundation design is the settlement of the
foundation. These issues will be re-checked with the existing drawings after the soil
geotechnical investigations.
If the load-bearing capacity is not as per the load calculated by the client, the design of the
footings will be changed and necessary changes will be made as required. Generally, the
allowable end bearing and skin friction of soil layers and rock will help to check the design.
Qarachay Individual Company has a full-fledged design cell working in the head office in
Baku Azerbaijan, with a supporting team at Kabul Office. We have all the relevant technical
design staff and state-of-the-art software available to check for the load calculations of the
vertical structures on the existing soil-bearing capacity. If any changes are required according
to the report of the geotechnical investigation, the required changes will be made in the
existing drawings and all the suggestions will be put forward to the client engineer for
approval and further action.
A geotechnical investigation for the bore of the water supply pump will be carried out to
provide complete log details of the bore and water quality quantity at different levels up to the
required bore level. It will provide detailed strata of the ground and water levels to be helpful
in the installation of the pump and future requirements.
For this project, Qarachay Individual Company will hire the services of ARMAN SEIHON
GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING COMPANY (ASGEC). We have already agreed to
subcontract the services of geotechnical instigations to the said firm if we are awarded the
project.
ARMAN SEIHON GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING COMPANY (ASGEC) has already
