How can Technologies for Learning aid Learners with Special Needs

Learners with special needs are those who cannot learn in conventional ways or strategies
due to various conditions and technology opened many educational doors to learners,
particularly to those with special needs. Technology for learning makes the complex simple
and easier and it somehow addresses the individual needs of the learners specifically
learners with special needs. According to Schofield, 1995 the integration of technology in
teaching to special education has positive influence on learner’s motivation, attitudes,
achievement, and peer interactions.

Technologies for learning can aid learners with special needs in a way of for examples,
laptops and tablets devices can aid learners with dysgraphia or handwriting difficulties in a
way that they can take notes by typing using these devices and these can improve the
quantity and quality of their notes. Using word processor in the Microsoft aids learners to
complete their work in more organized and less spelling errors since they may identify and
correct the misspelling words. These devices can aid learners in anywhere since these are
portable and lightweight. Technologies for learning such advanced visual aids, screen
reader application, and presentation can aids learners with weakened vision or visual
impairments since they may enlarge the images or adjust the size of the words in the way
they want. Furthermore, software application and games such as videos, recording, and
audio text/books can also aid learners with autism in a way that through audio text and
recordings autistic learners can replay the lectures and instructions and since many
learners with autism are visual learners, videos can aid as an alternatives to written books
or spoken lectures.

In conclusion, technologies for learning provided various opportunities and possible

solutions to aid learners with special needs. It aids to make the learning easier for the
students and help the students to learn how to complete their task and bypass an area of
their difficulty. Also, technology for learning aids learners with special needs to not fall
behind their peers and can somehow catch up to them.
Explain how technologies for learning improve academic performance of learners and
bridge learning gaps

The integration of technologies in education has an impact in the teaching and learning
process of both teachers and students. It can be a tool to support, enhance, and improve
the entire learning of the students. Technologies for learning make the teaching and
learning more convenient, comfortable, easy, and accessible for everyone to let and help
the learners to gain independence, collaboration, and knowledge to improve their education.

Technologies for learning improve the academic performance of learners and bridge
learning gaps in a way that for instance, students are now have an easy access on the
different information they want to know, they just need to open their laptops, computers, and
mobile phones and search in the internet the things they want to learn and clarify in their
subjects which help to improve their knowledge and academic performance. Technologies
for learning improve academic performance of the learners because before for students to
learn more effectively they have to borrow books from the library to study and some
students cannot access to books they need as not all books are available in the library
which they have to buy it in books store but some students can’t afford it since some books
are expensive but when technology introduces for learning students are willing and eager to
learn as information are now just one click away. This technology for learning gives learner
flexible learning experiences and provides learners to access a lot and variety of information
easily which helps to the improvement of their academic performance. Furthermore,
technologies for learning bridges learning gaps in a way that technologies provides devices
and software application that help the learners to not fall behind with their peers for
example, students who are slow learners or have difficulties in learning can use different
software apps like YouTube and Google to watch video lessons and tutorial to better
understand their lesson in a simple manner and have advanced reading in their next lesson
to catch up with their classmates. The use of assistive technology also bridge learning gaps
for those students with difficulties. In addition, technology for learning improve academic
performance and bridges learning gaps in a way that through the use of social media and
other platforms students and teachers can communicate to each other even they are at
school or home. Students can help each other and work together through online to have
better understanding in their subjects. They can also ask their teachers to provide
information and ask questions to improve their learning and academic performance.

In conclusion, technology for learning provided variety of tools that will help the learners to
be engage, learn, interact, and improve their academic performance. Through the use of
different devices it helps to fill and bridge the learning gaps among the learners.
How can abuse and misuse of the technologies for learning be prevented if not at all
eradicated? Research on the different solutions presented to address global issues
discussed in the article above (DICT Roadmap)

The technology or ICT has become widely used in the everyday lives of both teachers and
learners. Teachers and learners has now an access to internet and different types of
platforms and devices that provided by the technology since technology offers a wide range
of application in personal, teaching, and learning of teachers and learners. Technology is
simple or easy to use and provided a lot of benefits that is why people are hook to use
technology however in the long run, people’s use of technology eventually leads to issues,
abuse and misusing it.

The abuse and misuse of technologies for learning can be prevented in a way that parents
and teachers can talk with the students about the pros and cons of too much using
technology such as social media platforms and websites. Students should have time
management to limit how long they will use the technology. Moreover, to prevent the abuse
and misuse of technology for learning, school should conducted a seminar about the things
that the students should and shouldn’t do in the use of technology such as the internet,
social media, websites, and other forms of technology. For instances, students must be
aware and have a knowledge that they should not use technology to harm and threaten
people. They must know that not all websites are safe to log in and can be used. Students
should respect the privacy of other people and not make reckless decision such as
taking/posting pictures without the consent of the person. Also, students must know and be
aware that not all can we write and post in any platforms, they must think if it is right to
avoid misconception and harm to others. Furthermore, there are global issues that should
be address in a way that teachers and students should think before clicking something in
some websites especially if it is about privacy policy to protect their personal or information
security. There is solution or prevention to issue in surveillance and data retention such as
data leakage or data theft, spying or monitoring and exposing without consent of the person,
it is to secure the account with strong password, limiting what to share about personal
information such as home location and phone number, and using counter surveillance in
which it helps to recognize if the person is under surveillance and making measures to
prevent others from monitoring or spying. Also, the solution we can address in the issue of
e-pollutants from e-waste is that the e-waste or electronics can be recycled and the items
within them can be recovered includes plastic, steel, copper, and other metals and these
metals can be reuse to new products.

In conclusion, both teachers and learners must be aware of some issues in using the
technology. They must have the sense of balance in using it to prevent them from abusing
and misusing the use of technology for learning. We cannot eradicate everything but we can
try to prevent it. The prevention must start within us.
The Most Commonly Used Technologies for Learning in our Locality

The use of technology for learning in our country is now widely integrated since technology
creates new opportunities in learning of students. Technology made the learning more
convenient, better, and easier for both teachers and learners. However, the availability of
technologies for learning still varies in different places, regions, and locality for a reason of
there are places that have limited funds to avail different technologies and some are far
from the cities where internet are poor or not available.

The most commonly used technologies for learning in our locality are laptops, computer,
cellphone, TV, projector, and software application such as Google classroom/zoom/forms,
WPS, Microsoft, PPT, Excel, Facebook, YouTube, and Messenger. These technologies
help to facilitate the learning process of students. Through the use of Laptops and computer
teachers and even students can easily create meaningful and creative lessons, materials,
and activities that will help and piques the interests of the students to learn. Moreover,
cellphone was the most common technology for learning that both teachers and students
use. It facilitates the learning process of the students, for example, by exchanging of
information between the teachers and classmates regarding their lessons and assignment.
They can also have conversation like calling and with the help of software application such
Facebook and Messenger students can easily communicate with their teachers and peers
via video calls, audio, or chatting. TV, PPT, and projector are used to make the learning
more easy, realistic, engaging, and interesting especially for those visual learners. Students
can see and watch the lessons and can makes note-making easier for students as even the
student in the last row can clearly see the content. Furthermore, the several software
applications can help to facilitate the learning process of the students especially that we are
still in blended learning. Students can easily track their assignments and activities through
the help of Google classrooms and forms since these apps are organized to every topic or
subject. Students and teachers can easily write or encode their thoughts and ideas even
they are only using cellphones and at home. Also, students can easily search for a certain
topic that will help to expand their knowledge and understanding.

In conclusion, these most commonly used technologies for learning in our locality truly helps
the learning process of the students. These technologies make the learning more
convenient, easy, comfortable, engaging, interesting, and meaningful for both teachers and
students.
