In construction industry everyone has the right to lead his/her life and works
accordingly without any discrimination. These obstacles maintain a huge gender gap
most especially in gender-based occupations. The gender distribution in occupations
still lingers in the construction industry and labor market by the fact that either women or
men dominate those places. It is necessary to transform the construction industry in an
inclusive environment, of diversity and equity. The engineers, contractors and site

welcoming work environment for all its employees, regardless of gender.

The construction industry is a male-dominated industry and a major challenge to

women's equal opportunities. Women face many difficulties and barriers while choosing
a career in the building and construction industry. Women are victims of unfair
treatment, discrimination and disrespect, whether they are part of the professional team

unlikely on tasks. Because of the distinctive nature of work being a male-ruling sector,
the Indian construction sector has an inherent gender-based structure. According to the
labor force survey trends (August 2018), the construction sector continues to be a male-
dominated sector with an overall 89% average percentage of men employed in the
sector compared to just 11% for women. This study analysis the discrimination faced by
female construction workers. The research will highlight the specific gender-oriented
areas of skill development, education and the importance to their family of women's
income. Although this sector is covered by many labor laws, none of them had been
able to ensure the right of the construction worker to live and work in safe conditions.
The solution is to act and properly apply the required rules in the construction and other
construction workers act.

with workers displaying their abilities, performing their duties, and participating in the
field. The need equal treatment in the workplace. The particular issues in construction
industry focuses only on hiring and training one gender for a specific job. Men are more

the workplace, offer flexible work options, establish mentoring programs and
sponsorships.

OBJECTIVES

This research tries to evaluate employee and worker productivity independent of

gender. Our primary goals are to prioritize gender equality and encourage women's
empowerment. Show that you understand how gender interacts with sexuality, religion,
conventions, and other views. Its goal is to eliminate illegal discrimination, harassment,
victimization, and other actions that are against the law in order to promote a free and
equitable workplace. This study aims to determine each workers’ abilities to manage the
job in the workplace.

The specific objectives of this baseline study are as follows:

 To identify and assess the reasons behind gender disparities and discrimination
in the construction sector, such as the number of each sex employed, wage
gaps, differing work tasks, discrimination in employment and promotions, sexual
harassment, facilities available such as toilets and resting areas, and maternity
protection.
 To highlight potential areas for women (where women are and can participate) in
the construction sector labor market, by analyzing market and employment
related trends and requirements.
 To identify and assess the challenges for women within the construction sector
regarding human resource quality and the possible lack of required skills through
targeting employers and working women.
 To identify potential opportunities that can be further strengthened or focused on
to achieve gender equality and acknowledge women's roles in the construction
sector.
 To identify academic, vocational and technical institutes which are providing HR
and other construction related trainings/courses as well as the job placements for
women. This will provide support in highlighting the constraints/barriers: ( i.e.:
why the number of women in the construction related work force is still minimal in
this sector).
 To identify a number of strategic measures and recommendations for the ILO
and other stakeholders to achieve gender mainstreaming in the construction
sector.

transparent about the limitations. This will help in setting realistic expectations for the
research and its potential impact. The scope and limitations of a study on "Gender-
related work in construction firms" can vary depending on the specific goals and
parameters of the research. Here are some general considerations:

SCOPE:

1. RESEARCH OBJECTIVES: Clearly define the research objectives, such as

understanding the representation of genders in the construction industry, exploring
workplace challenges, or assessing the impact of diversity policies.
2. DATA COLLECTION: Specify the data sources, which might include surveys,
interviews, and existing literature. Decide whether to focus on a specific region or
construction subsector.

3. GENDER DIMENSIONS: Define what aspects of gender you'll explore – this could
include workforce composition, job roles, wage disparities, or workplace culture.

4. COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS: Consider if you'll be comparing different construction

firms, countries, or regions.

LIMITATIONS:

1. DATA AVAILABILITY: Depending on the industry, data on gender-related work

might be limited, and you may face challenges in obtaining accurate and
comprehensive data.

2. GENERALIZABILITY: The findings may not be universally applicable to all

construction firms, as the gender-related dynamics can vary greatly.

3. BIAS AND PERCEPTION: Be aware of potential biases in self-reported data or

perceptions regarding gender-related issues in the workplace.

4. RESOURCE LIMITATIONS: Constraints on time, funding, or access to certain firms

or data can impact the depth and breadth of the research.

5. ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS: Be mindful of ethical considerations when collecting

data related to gender, ensuring the privacy and consent of participants.
