Bournemouth Arts by the Sea Festival and Activate offer these delightful outdoor performances for Light Night 2011 on 24th and 25th September.This programme sees six new commissions of work by artists as well as some surprising street theatre around the Bournemouth Lower Gardens. Much of the work presented at this festival is new work for the outdoors by new and emerging companies, three of the pieces are premieres. Roustabout Theatre Company
- My Secret Garden
Roustabout Theatre are a company based in the South West led by Toby Hulse, a director and playwright who specialises in making theatre for family audiences and in educational contexts. He has created work for theatres and companies across the UK, touring nationally and internationally. Inspired by the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, Roustabout present My Secret Garden, produced by Theatre Bristol and Co-commissioned by The Tobacco Factory Theatre, Fuse Festival, 3 Foot High Peoples Festival, Winchester Hat Fair, Oxford Playhouse and Activate Performing Arts in partnership with Bournemouth Arts by the Sea Festival. The show invites the audience to enter a secret garden that can only be reached through a door hidden for many years. The long abandoned garden can be brought back to life, if we dig deep in the earth, and uncover the treasures that lie buried in the soil. A magical, muddy adventure for children aged two to five and their adults. Each show is approximately half an hour long starting from 10.45am throughout the day on September the 24th.

- Valerie Walkers Walking Tour of Bournemouth
Public Attraction is a theatre company who use physical comedy, improvisation and live music to take people on unique and exciting journeys. With a passion for people, places and all things peculiar, they are determined to get audiences bottoms off seats and into the playful world outside of the auditorium! Public Attraction is an emerging company based on the South Coast, where they are currently an Associate Artist at The Point, Eastleigh. They work closely with various community groups to tell the stories and visions of local people. Public Attractions delightful tour guide Valerie Walker collaborates with musicians The Lucky Ones to create an un-missable alternative tour of Bournemouths seafront and Lower Gardens. (Each tour is around 45 minutes long at 11am/1pm & 3pm on 24/25 September, and starts at Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum)
