As the summer comes to an end, it's time to gear up for the start of a new school year.

And with that,

comes the dreaded first day of school homework. For many students, the first day of school is filled
with excitement and anticipation, but it can also be overwhelming and stressful. That's why we've
compiled a list of homework ideas to help ease you into the new school year.

1. Get organized
The first day of school is the perfect time to get organized. Create a homework schedule or use a
planner to keep track of assignments and due dates. This will help you stay on top of your workload
and avoid any last-minute stress.

2. Set goals
Take some time to think about what you want to achieve this school year. Set realistic goals for
yourself and make a plan on how to achieve them. This will not only help you stay motivated, but it
will also give you a sense of direction for your homework.

3. Review previous material

The first day of school is a great opportunity to review material from the previous year. This will help
you refresh your memory and get you back into the swing of things. It will also make it easier to
understand new concepts as they build upon what you've already learned.

4. Get creative
Homework doesn't always have to be boring and repetitive. Use your creativity to make it more fun
and engaging. For example, if you have to write an essay, turn it into a creative writing piece or
make a short film. This will not only make homework more enjoyable, but it will also help you retain
information better.

5. Seek help if needed

book for 10-15 minutes and then answer the questions. I thought I’d share my mobile work station
again to help ease the pain and possibly create healthy study habits. Using a morning work choice
board that first day of school is a great way to get to know what your students prefer and what
activities they are drawn to. We wrote the things we wanted to do for the school year on slips of
paper and put them in a jar. Any supplies I need my students to have day one I have ready to go so
that I don't have to worry about individual student supplies until I have the time to sort them. We do
more of that on the second day and the days following. Each of these things get saved for their end
of the year “Sea How I’ve Grown” folder. The photos are for our job board, mailboxes, writing
center name tags, and for literacy center activities. You could even place one of these printable lunch
notes inside for fun. We hope this post helps make your first day of homeschool (and even first week
of school!) as successful as possible. You can then use those surveys later for partner or whole group

supplies have been turned in, demonstrate your book bag procedures and then have groups of
students put their book bags up correctly while the rest continue working on the morning work. My

first week so that everyone gets a chance to “meet a friend” and set the “community” tone for our
classroom. I sprinkle in procedures and rules as they naturally arise, but I don’t spend my entire first
day on this. Then, decorate and have everyone dress for the theme.
