I like going for walks with my dog. I also like cooking and inviting Friends for dinner. I enjoy
going to concerts but I don’t like going to the cinema or the theatre. People say I’m shy
because I don’t talk a lot. I think I’m loyal and honest.

How do you celebrate your birthday?

I usually celebrate my birthday with my friends. I invite them to go out for dinner. We usually
go to a restaurant and eat seafood. After that, we go dancing. My friends don’t give me any
presents, but they usually give me cards.

cooked lunch, usually vegetables and fish or meat. My wife often takes a sándwich or a salad to
work. We have a light dinner at about half past eight. We often have soup and an omelette.

Descriptions of the hotels

We are a Budget hotel. Our romos have all got six beds. We haven’t got TV in the romos but we
are in the centre of London so you can go and see the tourist attractions. The Palace Hotel is a
very small, modern hotel.

It’s a county hotel 50 miles from Edinburgh. It’s an old house with 10 double rooms and 3
single rooms on two floors. Downstairs there is a lounge with a big fire and lots of books. There
is also a very good restaurant and a comfortable bar. There isn’t a swimming pool or gym but
there is a beautiful garden. The hotel has WIFI in all the rooms and in the reception area.

Describe hotel to a friend

Hi, I’m staying in a fantastic hotel in Tenerife It’s very near the beach. It’s got two swimming
pools and there is a bar next to the swimming pool. In the morning, there are aqua gym
classes. They are good fun! There are two restaurants. The food is delicious. Every evening
there is a show in the hotel. On Sundays, there is karaoke! See you soon.

Directions

This is the Hallgarth Hotel. It’s small but it has got a big garden. To get to the bar from
reception, you TURN RIGHT and then GO DOWNSTAIRS. Then go down the corridor and the bar
is ON YOUR LEFT. To get to the gym from reception, take the lift to the FOURTH FLOOR. Come
out of the lift and TURN LEFT. The gym is in front of you and the pool is ON THE RIGHT.

My house is near the train station. GO DOWN Station Road. TURN LEFT at the end and take the
third turning ON THE RIGHT. My house is ON THE LEFT.

Best way to geta round your town

You can get to my city by train. To travel around the city, you can take a car, taxi or bus. My city
is small and a lot of people ride bicycles because they are cheap and fast. You can hire a bike at
the station and use it during your stay. When you hire it, you get a map of the city. If you don’t
like riding a bicycle, you can visit the city on foot. You can walk around it in two hours.

The world around us

I live in Canadá and the weather changes a lot. In the summer, it’s really hot
but in the winter, we often have two or three metres of snow. Sometimes, I can’t see the
house.
During the day, it is very hot, but at nights, it is often very cold here.

I’m Switzerland and the weather always changes. It is usually hot and sunny in the summer but
it sometimes rains a lot. I like spring because it is often cloudy and cool, and I prefer cloudy
weather. The winter is always snowy and icy. I prefer snow because you can’t drive when it’s
icy. Today the sun is shining but it’s not hot.

Explaining where the nearest shops are where you live

Opposite the newsagent’s, there is a very good chemist. Round the corner, there is a nice café.
They have good coffee and cakes and they sell bread too. Next to the café, there is an excellent
Mexican restaurant. Across the road, there is a greengrocer’s and a butcher’s. On Sundays,
there is a Street market. You can buy clothes, shoes and food there.

Money

I’m a nurse and I think that being fit and healthy is very important. My mum thinks I waste all
my money but I don’t think that staying fit is a waste of money. I go to the gym every day and I
also play tennis and golf every week. I am a member of a health club, a golf club and a tennis
club. I love travelling and I go on holiday every year. I usually go to Florida to play golf. The
problema is that nurses don’t earn a lot and I never save any money.

After that, he went to the cinema and out for dinner. Finally, he went to bed at about 1 am.

Did she do on Saturday

I was really busy last week and then I went away at the weekend. I drove to the New Forest
with Ella. We stayed with Ella’s friends in a beautiful house near Lyndhurst. There was a big
party in the house on Saturday evening. It was fantastic. I met someone really nice. Sunday was
nice and quiet. First, we had breakfast and then we went for a long walk. After that, we had
lunch in a really nice pub. Finally, we visited my sister on the way home.

Invention
I think radio was an important invention. Before radio, people didn’t have much information
about world events. It was also a new form of entertainment with music, drama and current
events programmes.
