II. OBJECTIVES: At the end of doing all learning activities, the students will be able to:
1. Illustrate the six trigonometric ratios: sine, cosine, tangent, secant, cosecant, and cotangent.
2. Calculate the value of six trigonometric ratios of the given reference angle of a right triangle
3. Show diligence in doing activities and solving problems about trigonometric ratio.
Trigonometry is a branch of Mathematics that deals with the study of triangles and relationships between their
sides and the angles between these sides. The word “trigonometry” comes from the Greek words trigonon
(“triangle”) and metron (“to measure”). One of the topics in Trigonometry which is basic but very important is
the trigonometric ratios because it relates the sides of a right triangle to its angles. Specifically, the ratios of
two sides of a right triangle are related to an angle. To solve a triangle means to find the length of all the sides
and the measure of all the angles.
Definition: Trigonometric ratio is the ratio between the sides of a right triangle given one of its acute angles as
the reference angle.

angle measures in decimal degrees into degrees and minutes (only) give answers to the
nearest minute.
a. 17.8⁰ b.48.52⁰ c. 63.7⁰ d.108.33⁰ e. 35.24⁰
3. Given the following values of trigonometric ratio, find the size of the angle ϴ (to the
nearest degree) where ϴ is an acute angle.
a. sinϴ = 0.529 b. cosϴ = 0.493 c. tanϴ = 1.8 d. sinϴ = 0.256 e. tan ϴ =0.725
4. Given the following values of trigonometric ratio, find measure of the angle ϴ (to the
nearest minute) where ϴ is an acute angle.
a. sinϴ = 0.9 b. cosϴ = 0.013 c. tanϴ = 0.958 d. cosϴ = 0.501 e. tanϴ =2.3
