C. ABSTRACTION

Recognizing Positive and Negative Messages Conveyed in a Text

 Positive messages are a type of communication that provides good


news, acceptance, or congratulations. Positive messages are often the
easiest to write because the receiver is expected to be fairly receptive
to the presented information.
 Negative messages, on the other hand, are more of a direct approach.
They most often include refusing requests and delivering bad news.
 Positive and negative messages in a text can be identified through
explicit markers or signal words/phrases/expressions.
 Below are examples of commonly used signal

 The teacher will divide the class into three groups.
 Each group will be given a task to work on as a team.
 Each group will be given 5 minutes to do the task and perform it right
after the given time.
 Each group will be given differentiated activities.

Group 1: SONG
Directions: Compose a song expressing positive messages in the lyrics then
sing it in front. Remember to use expressions or signal words that convey
positive messages

Group 2: POSTER
Directions: Create a poster that expresses negative thought.

Group 3: DIALOG
Directions: Make a short dialog expressing negative and positive thoughts.
Remember to use expressions or signal words that convey positive or
negative messages.
