AIRCONDITIOINING

When two quantities of air having
enthalpies and different specific
humidities are mixed , the final
amount of air mixture depends upon
the masses involved and the
Mixture of Air Streams enthalpy and specific humidity of
each constituent masses
VENTILATION AIR
❑ It is amount of fresh air which is supplied to Air conditioning in order to maintain the
purity.
.
ALIGNMENT CIRCLE
❑ Comfort chart is an empirically determined effective temperature index which has been published by
ASHRAE .
❑ The chart is made by the evaluation from different kinds of people subjected to wide range
environmental temperature ,relative humidity and air movement.
EFFECTIVE TEMPERATURE
❑ It is the temperature of saturated air at which a person or human being feel same level of comfort as
actual environment.
❑ The chart is made by the evaluation from different kinds of people subjected to wide range
environmental temperature ,relative humidity and air movement.
1) Climatic and Seasonal difference: People living in colder climate feels more comfortable at lower
effective temperature in comparison to people living in warmer region.
In Summer A/C , Effective temperature is 21.60C
In Winter A/C , Effective Temperature is 200C
EFFECTIVE TEMPERATURE
2) Age and Gender: Child and old age peoples require higher effective temperature (usually 20C to 30C)
in comparison to adults. Similarly women also require higher effective temperature than adults.
3) Kind of Activity : Person who involved in outdoor games , heavy works , dancing , foundry shop
works require lower effective temperature than person who is in rest condition.
❑ In comfort air conditioning systems the air is brought to required dry bulb temperature and relative
humidity for human health comfort .It is always assumed to be 210C DBT and 50% RH
(a) 250C DBT and 100%RH (b) 200C DBT and 80%RH
(c) 220C DBT and 60%RH (d) 260C DBT and 50%RH
4) The alignment circle is marked on the psychrometric chart at
(a) 250C DBT and 75%RH (b) 260C DBT and 60%RH
(c) 220C DBT and 60%RH (d) 260C DBT and 50%RH
5) The latent heat load in the auditorium is 25% of sensible heat load. The value od SHF is
