A. What’s New?
The volume of a cube and a rectangular prism is the amount of space inside it.
In this lesson we will find the volume of a cube and rectangular prism.

B. What Is It?
Remember!
What is a cube? It is a regular solid with six equal sides.
What is rectangular prism? It is six-faced solid in which all the faces are
rectangle.
This is 1 cubic cm box. 1cm

The rubiks cube contains 27 cubes.


V=l x w x h
=3x3x3

Its volume is 27 or 27 cm3.

Formula for the volume of rectangular prism:


Volume = length x width x height ( V=l x w x h )
Formula for the volume of cube:
Volume = side x side x side ( V = (s)3

You only need to know one side to figure out the volume of a cube.

The units of measure for volume are cubic units.


Volume is in three-dimensions.
