Seniority is significant when the school is holding an orientation for new students. The freshmen are
often afraid when their seniors request something. Why is this?

Actually, seniority is not something to fear. It can be very beneficial too. The goal of seniority is to
create friendship and solidarity between seniors and juniors. Seniority should not allow bullying ,but
only to seek to better relationships among students.

Teachers argue that there is no seniority in the school context, but more a sense of living together like
sisters and brothers in a family. Therefore, seniors should be role model for their juniors and assist
them in collaborating on social events. Meanwhile, the juniors must show respect for their seniors so
that they can learn many things from them.

In conclusion, seniority is needed to improve relationships among students as long as it does not allow
bullying or other oppressive behavior from the seniors.
5.What is seniority about?
a. To organize the juniors more easily.
b. To assist the juniors on school surroundings.
c. To improve their knowledge and social lives.
d. To establish solidarity and friendship among students.

a. It is essential to build students’ personality.
b. It is similar to living like siblings in a family.
c. It is inappropriate in the school context.

Seniority is needed to improve relationships among students as long as it does not allow bullying or
other oppressive behavior from the seniors.

Learning English through music and songs can be very enjoyable. You can mix
pleasure with learning when you listen to a song and exploit the song as a means to your
English progress. Some underlying reason can be drawn to support the idea why we use
songs in language learning.
Firstly, “the song stuck in my head” Phenomenon (the echoing in our minds of the last
song we heard after leaving a restaurant, shopping malls, etc) can be both enjoyable and
sometimes unnerving. This phenomenon also seems to reinforce the idea that songs work on
our short-and-long term memory.
Secondly, songs in general also use simple conversational language, with a lot of
repetition, which is just what many learners look for sample text. The fact that they are
effective makes them many times more motivating than other text. Although usually simple,
some songs can be quite complex syntactically, lexically and poetically, and can be analyzed
in the same way as any other literary sample.
Furthermore, song can be appropriated by listener for their own purpose. Most pop
songs and probably many other types don’t have precise people, place or time reference.
In addition, songs are relaxing. They provide variety and fun, and encourage harmony
within oneself and within one group. Little wonder they are important tools in sustaining
culture, religion, patriotism and yeas, even revolution.
Last but not least, there are many learning activities we can do with songs such as
studying grammar, practicing selective listening comprehension, translating songs, learning
vocabulary, spelling and culture.
From the elaboration above, it can be concluded that learning through music and songs,
learning English can be enjoyable and fun.

my friends; Janet, Dick and Brian there. You still remember Brian, don't you? He sends his greetings.

Lake and swam from morning until afternoon. We buffaloes and I got a picture near one of them.

shelf to the boxes. I thought it was the right decision to put the books in the boxes we prepared for the
temporary container during the installation of the new furniture. I didn't think that i would cause your
problems in finding books that you needed.
I promise to put the books back on the shelf in alphabetical order, so that it will be easier for
you to find the book you are looking for.

In the 1930s, Chester F. Carlson was working in the patents department of a large electronics firm in
New York City. One of the major problems in his work was the length of time and expense involved
in getting patents copied; patents were lengthy legal documents, and the only ways to get them copied
were to take them to a typist or to a photographer. Either way of copying patents took a lot of time
and cost a lot of money.

He came up with the idea for a machine that would copy documents quickly and efficiently. He
researched the idea in the library and then worked over a three-year period on developing a machine
that used a light, an electrostatically charged plate, and powder to duplicate images on paper. The
result of this work was a machine that produced the first xerographic copy on October- 22, 1938. He
named the process "Xerox," which is derived from a record meaning "dry writing."

Carlson felt that he had a good idea, one that would be extremely helpful in the business world. He
tried to sell his idea to a number of large corporations, but they were not terribly interested in his
machine. He was able to get some help in developing the machine from a non-profit institute, and a
few years later he sold the process to a small family-owned company. This small company grew into

b. They put no interest in his idea.
c. It was not really urgent to have such machine.
d. The need for the machine was still low.
e. The machine needed more power.

Snakes are reptiles (cold-blooded creatures). They belong to the same group as lizards (the
scaled group, Squamata) but from a sub-group of their own (Serpentes). Snakes have two legs but a
long time ago they had claws to help them slither along. Snakes are not slimy. They are covered in
scales which are just bumps on the skin. Their skin is hard and glossy to reduce friction as the snake
slithers along the ground.
Snakes often sun bathe on rocks in the warm weather. This is because snakes are cold-
blooded; they need the sun’s warmth to heat their bodies up. Most snakes live in the country. Some
types of snakes live in tress, some live in water, but most live on the ground in deserted rabbit
burrows, in thick, long grass and in old logs.
A snake’s diet usually consists of frogs, lizard, and mice and other snakes. The Anaconda can
eat small crocodiles and even bears. Many snakes protect themselves with their fangs. Some snakes
are protected by scaring their enemies away like the Cobra. The flying snakes glide away from
danger. Their ribs spread apart and the skin stretches out. Its technique is just like the sugar gliders.

Napoleon is a favorite fish for divers in many regions of the world. The fish can instantly be
recognized by its size, color and shape. It is one of the largest reef fish in the world. They can grow up
to 230 cm and weigh 190 kg. They have fleshy lips and a hump over the head that is similar to a
napoleon hat. The Hump becomes more prominent with age.
Colors vary with age and sex. Males range from a bright electric blue to green or purplish
blue. Mature males develop a black stripe along the sides, blue spots on their body scales, and blue
scribbles on the head. Juveniles can be identified by their pale greenish color and two black lines
running behind the eye. Females, both old and young, are red-orange on the upper parts of their
bodies and red-orange to white yellow.
Napoleon fish are carnivorous and eat during the day. They can be seen feasting on shellfish,
other fish, sea stars, sea urchins and crabs, crushing the shells to get the animal within. They also
crush large chunks of dead coral rubble with peg-like teeth to feed on the burrowing mussels and
worms.
Pairs spawn together as part of a larger mating group that may consist of over 100 individuals.
The planktonic eggs are released into the water, and once the larvae have hatched they will settle out
on the substrate. Adult females are able to change sex but the triggers for this development are not yet
known.
The Napoleon is mainly found on coral reef edges and drop-offs. They move into shallow
bays during the day to feed, and tend to move into deeper waters as they grow older and large. Adults,
therefore, are more common offshore than inshore.
9. What is the text about?
A. The description of Napoleon fish
B. The physical characteristics of carnivorous fish

D. Napoleon’s family
E. The development of Napoleon fish
10. Where do Napoleon fish move during the day to feed?

There is no best way to deal with pests in agriculturE. Pesticides which are commonly used
may cause many problems. I think combining different management operations is the most effective
way to control pests. Firstly, the chemicals in the pesticides may build up as residues in the
environment and in the soil which absorbs the chemicals. This reduces the quality of farm product.
Secondly, pests can gradually become resistant to pesticides. This means that newer and stronger ones
have to be developed. Lastly, some pesticides affect non target plants and animals such as fish and
bees. This affects the ecology and environment as well. So, understanding of ecology of an area helps
a lot in pest control. Pesticides should be chosen and applied carefully so that they don’t affect the
ecological balance and environment. Therefore, integrated pest management is a safe and more
effective option to fight pest in agriculture and livestock.
