Summary
The Marketing and Communications (Marcom) Manager is responsible for all communication
touchpoints including the development and implementation of all RAIC marketing and
communications strategies related to advertising, branding, product, and service promotion. This
individual will work with the marketing and communications team and staff to collaboratively co-
create goals, strategies, and implementation plans to execute creative and effective marketing
campaigns that communicate the unique value proposition of RAIC work, products, services, and
events. Some marcom goals include maintaining the brand integrity of the RAIC and strategically
positioning the Institute as the only national voice for the architectural community, a trusted source
of knowledge and professional resources for the architectural and design community, while
establishing and ensuring its status as industry leader.
The Marcom Manager supports the development of campaigns for new and existing products and
services and ensures collection and analysis of marketing analytics as a key performance and
decision-making tools.
The Marcom manager will have the ability to understand and analyze trends and have a deep
understanding of the wide variety of marketing channels.
Key Responsibilities
Align marketing efforts with RAIC strategic priorities to ensure a consistent message cross various
channels;
Oversee all marketing and communication for the organization including, but not limited to emails,
newsletters, website copy, etc.;
Coordinate and oversee the implementation and distribution of RAIC’s electronic communications
(email, newsletters), including oversight of the content on RAIC’s website;
Develop and execute a results-driven, multi-platform communications strategy and plan in line with
the RAIC corporate brand and strategic priorities;
Campaign development- for new and existing products, services, and activities – this includes writing
marketing copy and working collaboratively with teams;
Track the effectiveness of various campaigns and provide recommendations and implement
improvements;
Working collaboratively with staff, develop, manage, and produce materials to create a cohesive
image and message for print and all offline communication modalities (e-news, email, newsletters,
website, etc.);
Support the planning and implementation of public relation initiatives related to the brand;
Project managing all marketing and communications campaigns that are developed across RAIC
portfolios:
Stay current with needs of architectural community with ongoing research, development and
implementation of new marketing strategies and campaigns;
Enhance and grow the architectural community and communication reach of the RAIC;
Develop and promote branding initiatives consistent with organizational goals and objectives;
Maximize brand value through the development of ancillary revenue streams and new opportunities;
Ensure all products, services, and other offerings are aligned with brand identity;
Assist departments with pricing based on market research and other projections;
Proactively provide innovation across all communication vehicles that the RAIC uses (offline and
online) and provide competitive insight into its communications and branding strategies;
Identify potential new products/media to enhance the marketing/communications work of the RAIC;
Identify and pursue opportunities for collaboration with other organizations on communications
efforts, collaborating with other staff as appropriate;
Ensure that all materials are developed and distributed according to an appropriate timeline;
Oversee the research, writing, and editing of RAIC Journal provide content to several professional
magazines;
Coordinate content and production with publishers, translators, graphic designer, and writers for
magazine publications;
Act as RAIC’s focal point for media relations, maintaining media contacts, providing information,
arranging interviews, writing, and distributing media press releases, organizing press conferences,
etc.;
Prepare speeches, letters and presentations and reports as required for the Board of Directors and
Chief Executive Officer;
Create scenarios and scripts for RAIC events, including the annual Conference, Congress, awards
ceremonies, and the Governor General’s Medals in Architecture public lecture;
Work with organizational partners on events, activities, and communications that promote the RAIC;
Oversee the editing and proofreading of communications-related texts and others as required;
Participate in regular staff meetings to coordinate work, resolve operational issues, and ensure
harmonious relations among the National Office team members;

Works with: Marketing and Communications Coordinator, Digital Marketing Assistant, Graphic
Designer, Communications Consultant, all other departmental leads.
University degree in marketing, advertising, business administration, public relations, or related field
Excellent understanding and familiarity with brand building and brand management
Proven track record in creating and executing successful e-mail marketing, Internet marketing, and
direct marketing programs
Metrics-driven thinking
Highly effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to
meet deadlines
Breadth of working knowledge and experience in publishing with print and web-media (Magazines,
Newsletters, Journals)
Ability to manage and co-ordinate the end-to-end development process while meeting deadlines,
budget requirements and reporting on the results;
Exceptional presentation, copy-editing, written and verbal communication skills
Competence as a creative writer with an eye for great emails, messaging, and web pages
Direct experience with graphic and web design, and other marketing-related software tools
Excellent inter-personal skills and are adept at building relationships with different partners
Willingness to learn
Team player
Bilingual (English/French)
Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and its suite of products (e.g. Teams, SharePoint, MS Word, MS Excel,
etc.), CIVIcrm, Hubspot, Drupal, Moodle and Wordpress
