First Principle: Choosing the Topic

A speech is meant to relay a message to the listeners. The choice of

topic may be up to the speaker but, more often than not, the speaker
is given the topic because it is the central theme of a program.

Second Principle: Analyzing the Audience

Audience are the recipients of the speech. A speech for one

occasion cannot simply be used for another.

b. The teacher asks guided questions and recapitulates the

Principles of Speech Writing, and asks questions to recall
student’s learning towards the lesson.

Third Principle: Sourcing the Information

This involves seeking out all available means for finding materials
to support the speech.

Good sources are newspaper, magazines, books, journals, or any

reading materials full of useful information.

Fourth Principle: Outlining and Organizing the Speech

Content.

Organizing the speech itself through a chronological outline, spatial

or geographical outline, cause and effect outline, problem-solution
outline and topic outline.

Scaffold 3: Speech Outline Chart

a. With the accomplished audience analysis chart, the students

will be asked to organize a speech by crafting an outline that is
