This program will prepare students to enter the growing and profitable fields of
agribusiness and environmental concerns. It combines knowledge of the ecology of living systems with the study of environmentally safe practices in the areas of green technology, land-use management, green residential landscape design, integrated pest management, outdoor recreation and natural resource management. Students will have access to cutting edge technology, field work, and research practices through partnerships with the NJ Department of Agriculture, Rutgers University, NJ Forest Resource Education Center, and Ocean County Soil Conservation District.
Career Ladder
Agricultural and Environmental Science students can advance with experience and education. Students can obtain postsecondary industry recognized credential certificates, or degrees at four-year universities.

Architectural/Engineering Design

Computer repair technicians install, maintain and repair computer systems. Many
technicians are employed by the manufacturers who make the equipment. They install a system by laying cables that run between the computer and the peripherals. They then test the system to make sure that it works properly, and set up a maintenance schedule.

Dental assistants aid dentists as they examine and treat patients. They prepare the
patient for treatment and hand the proper instruments to the dentist. They may also act as receptionists and perform routine clerical functions in the office.
Special Requirements
Certain functions can only be performed by a registered dental assistant under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist.

Design and Visual Communication Emphasizes preparation for both employment and continuing education at a post secondary institution. Students select from eleven ten-week courses consisting of traditional and digital skills required in various visual art and communication careers. Multimedia: Emphasizes the creation of computer generated art, type and graphics for reproduction. Both color and black and white printing will be utilized. The program will also offer an introduction to 3-D computer graphics and large format ink jet printing. This course introduces students to the fields of fitness, personal training, nutrition and
physical rehabilitative therapy through preparation as an entry level personal trainer, fitness technician or group fitness instructor.

These mechanics install, service and repair heating, air conditioning and refrigeration
equipment for both home and commercial use. Many specialize in one phase of the work such as home air conditioning. They may further specialize in one type of equipment, such as oil burners. However, more and more technicians do both installation and service, especially those who are self employed.

This program will emphasize marine ecosystems, environmental issues, basic ecology,
oceanography, conservation and natural resources. It addresses concerns for the environment and integrates the scientific principles of chemistry, biology, and earth science to understand interrelationships of the natural world.
Career Ladder
Technical training leads to positions of Assistant Park Naturalists, Aquaculture Assistants or Water Quality Samplers. Further education is necessary for advancement to Naturalist, Aquaculturalist, Environmental Engineer, Consultant, and Laboratory Technician. A four year bachelors degree is a minimum requirement for Marine Resource Management, Marine Ecology and Environmental Education Specialist. Environmental Engineering, which includes Coastal Engineering, Marine Biology and Oceanography careers, may require a masters degree or higher. Proper certification is required for the engineering field, as well as skills needed in Marine Science. Jobs require good communication skills, critical thinking, and use of current technology.
**Various field and vessel trips will be conducted, including Barnegat Bay, County Parks, and New Jersey State Parks.**

The study of Marine and Environmental Science is competitive and requires work experience. The more diverse the experience, the better the opportunities during and after college. The fields are diverse and needs arise on a yearly basis in specialty areas. Marine fisheries have been on the decline the past thirty years leading to the need to raise fish in a controlled setting which has opened opportunities in the Aquaculture fields and Fisheries Management.

Marine service technicians inspect, maintain and repair boats of all kinds. Their area of
responsibility includes maintenance of hulls, propulsions systems, rigging and navigational equipment. They use measuring equipment to diagnose problems and perform the necessary repairs. A marine service technician may install and test sanitation and refrigeration systems, electrical systems, steering gear and accessories.
Career Ladder
Most entrants start as limited technical mechanics. As their skill increases, their level of responsibility also increases to the point of becoming a supervisor or owner of their own marina or repair shop.

This program provides students with hands-on instruction in a variety of welding and
metal fabrication processes. Upon completion students are prepared for careers in construction, fabrication and repair of industrial and transportation equipment including cars, ships, pleasure crafts and aircraft. They are also qualified for employment in the area of structural welding including the fabrication of bridges, steel structures, pipelines and boilers.
