LESSON PLAN

I. Objectives At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:

a. Identify the difference of Food Pyramid and Food Plate


through a Venn Diagram

b. Express their own thoughts about the importance of Food


Pyramid and Food Plate in one minute.

c. Draw the three meals using the Food Pyramid and Food
Plate using paper plates and coloring materials.

type of foods. The students should clap their hands if the
picture shows healthy food otherwise stomp their feet if it is

TOPIC: Food Pyramid and Food Plate

Food Pyramid- The Food Pyramid is a visual representation


of how different foods and drinks contribute towards a healthy
balanced diet. The Food Pyramid allows individuals the
flexibility to choose foods and drinks from each shelf
depending on their food preferences. It is designed to make
healthy eating easier. It shows the different food groups and
how much of each we need to have a healthy diet.

What's on each shelf of the pyramid?


● Cereals, breads, potatoes, pasta and rice

● Vegetables, salad and fruit

● Milk, yogurt and cheese

● Meat, poultry, fish, eggs, beans and nuts

● Fats, spreads and oils

● Food high in fat, sugar and salt

Cereals, Grains, Breads, and Corn

It is where we can get Carbohydrates


that will provide our body an energy and strength.

Fruits and Vegetables

It helps our immune system to


become strong and healthy so that we can avoid getting
sick.

Milk, Cheese, and Yoghurt

Milk, cheese and yoghurt


provide calcium in a readily absorbable
and convenient form. They also have
various health benefits and are a good
source of many nutrients, including calcium, protein,
iodine, vitamin A, vitamin D, riboflavin, vitamin B12 and
zinc.

Fish, Meat, Chicken, Poultry, and


Beans

These are the good source of protein.


Protein is also a critical part of the processes that fuel
your energy and carry oxygen throughout your body in
your blood. It also helps make antibodies that fight off
infections and illnesses and helps keep cells healthy and
create new ones.

Fats, Sugar, Oil, and Salt

Fats, sugars and salt are essential to


your diet. Without them, your body
would not function properly -- but do
limit your consumption of these nutrients. Fats, sugars
and salt are contained in high amounts in processed
foods, savory snacks and ready meals.
Food Plate- The plate features four sections — vegetables,
fruits, grains, and protein — plus a side order of dairy in
blue. The big message is that fruits and vegetables take up
half the plate, grains and protein take up about one-quarter of
the plate. The divided plate also helps keep portion sizes in
check.
33% GO Foods- consists of rice, bread and other food
that is rich of carbohydrates.

40% GLOW Foods- consists of vegetables and fruits.


Rich in Vitamins and Minerals that helps our immune
system strong.

rich in protein.
