How does the EPA regulate mines?
Mines must follow special conditions in their EPA environment protection licence
An environment protection licence can: • set conditions detailing how the premises
• set limits on noise, blasting and vibration, should be operated
and water discharges • require immediate notification in the event
• require monitoring of air quality, water, of an incident threatening harm
weather, noise and blasting • require the operation of a complaints line
• require mines to minimise dust • require annual reporting.
