Preamble
1) Introduction
With the introduction of the National Education Policy-2020, Changu Kana Thakur
Arts, Commerce, and Science College, New Panvel, have restructured and revised the
existing syllabus of M.Sc.-II Microbiology for the academic year 2023-2024. The
revised syllabus, aligned with the CBCS pattern, will be implemented from 2024-2025,
aiming to foster a more knowledge-oriented approach in Microbiology.
The new syllabus embraces an interdisciplinary perspective, integrating concepts from
Biochemistry, Bacterial Taxonomy, and Molecular Biology, while ensuring it remains
accessible and manageable for M.Sc. students. It is meticulously designed to provide
both foundational and advanced knowledge progressively from the first year to the third
year.
This revamped curriculum not only caters to the evolving needs of students but also
aims to inspire them to pursue further studies in Microbiology or explore
entrepreneurial opportunities. Moreover, it equips students with the skills necessary for
employment in Microbiology-based industries

3) Learning Outcomes
Understand the structural organization and function of intracellular organelles.
Analyse the principles of membrane transport and intracellular compartmentalization
Interpret the mechanism of cell division, cell cycle regulation, programmed cell death
(apoptosis), and cell-cell adhesion.
Apply the acquired knowledge and skills in conducting experiments, analyzing data,
and drawing conclusions in the field of Cell Biology.
Discuss the principles of cell communication, including signaling pathways through
G-protein linked receptors, enzyme-linked receptors, and signaling in plants.
