Preamble
1) Introduction
With the introduction of the National Education Policy-2020, Changu Kana Thakur
Arts, Commerce, and Science College, New Panvel, have restructured and revised the
existing syllabus of M.Sc.-II Microbiology for the academic year 2023-2024. The
revised syllabus, aligned with the CBCS pattern, will be implemented from 2024-2025,
aiming to foster a more knowledge-oriented approach in Microbiology.
The new syllabus embraces an interdisciplinary perspective, integrating concepts from
Biochemistry, Bacterial Taxonomy, and Molecular Biology, while ensuring it remains
accessible and manageable for M.Sc. students. It is meticulously designed to provide
both foundational and advanced knowledge progressively from the first year to the third
year.
This revamped curriculum not only caters to the evolving needs of students but also
aims to inspire them to pursue further studies in Microbiology or explore
entrepreneurial opportunities. Moreover, it equips students with the skills necessary for
employment in Microbiology-based industries

2) Aims and Objectives

 To align the M.Sc.-II Microbiology syllabus with the National Education Policy-2020
and the CBCS pattern.
 To foster a more knowledge-oriented approach in Microbiology education.
 To integrate interdisciplinary concepts from Biochemistry, Bacterial Taxonomy, and
Molecular Biology into the syllabus.
 To ensure accessibility and manageability for M.Sc. students while maintaining
academic rigor.
 To provide a curriculum that progresses from foundational to advanced knowledge
over the course of the program.
