SLIP KNOT
A slip knot is the complete beginning of your project.
This will create the first loop of your work.
@Karlijnscorner
Make a loop with your yarn, and pull through the end
attached to your skein through the loop. Put your
hook/needle through the loop. To tighten your slip knot
pull at the short end.
LONG TAIL CAST ON
Take your yarn and measure around 3x your desired
width for your piece, make a slip knot here to create a
long tail. The yarn attached to your skein we'll call your
working yarn
@Karlijnscorner
Put your slip knot on one of your needles. This counts
as your first ST. Now take your tail and wrap it around
your thumb, while tensioning the working yarn with
your point finger. Take your needle and under the
bottom strand of the loop created by the tail and over
the working yarn. Pull the ST loosely around the needle
@Karlijnscorner
To Make your connection stronger take your second
STs of your right needle and carry it over the first ST,
like you would do when you bind off. Give your tail a
tug to tighten it. You can now start working in the
round
@Karlijnscorner
pull the wrapped yarn through the loop of the first ST
and drop the ST that was on your left hand needle. You
have now made a knit stitch.
@Karlijnscorner
Pull the wrapped yarn through the first ST loop and
drop the ST that was on your left needle. You have now
made a purl ST
@Karlijnscorner
You have now bound off 1 ST, work the next ST in
pattern and take the second ST on your right needle to
carry over the first ST and off your needle. Continue
doing this until the end of your work or until the
pattern says so.
Row 1-12: work 1x1 (K1, P1) ribbing for 4 cm or your desired stripe width
Reference: 12 rows
Repeat rows 13-14 for 4 cm or your desired stripe width. Change colours.
@Karlijnscorner
Continue alternating K and P rows changing yarn every 4 cm. (12 rows) until
you reach your measurement B
Reference: 7x 12 rows =84 rows
Row 90: K26 STs, bind off STs until the last 25 STs, K25 (both straps should
have 26 STs now)
Repeat until you have your normal amount of rows per colour
reference: total of 12 rows> until row 97
Put the 26 STs on hold on a piece of scrap yarn or an extra cable. Repeat rows
90-97 on the other side, starting on the side of the Bind off STs.
