Lacrosse
Lacrosse is a team sport where players try to get a rubber ball into a net or goal. Players use a long
stick with a net on the end of it called a lacrosse stick. They can run, carry, catch, shoot, and pass the
ball with the net of the stick. The lacrosse team with the most points or goals at the end of the time
period wins the game.
Lacrosse is a very athletic and active game. It provides good exercise and is often played as a
competition. There is a lot of running in Lacrosse and speed and endurance are great assets to the
Lacrosse player. The sport's nickname is "The fastest game on two feet". Lacrosse has become
popular with high schools, colleges, and has had some success as a professional sport.

Lacrosse players must wear protective equipment. This includes a helmet, mouth guard, lacrosse
gloves, and pads. Pads can include rib pads, shoulder pads, and elbow pads. Lacrosse goalies must
wear extra and special protective equipment.
The other main piece of equipment for a Lacrosse player is the stick or crosse.The head of the
lacrosse stick has a net to hold the ball with a flange on the end that allows the ball to be thrown or
shot by swinging the stick.

The origins of lacrosse come from a game that was played by Native Americans. It is one of the oldest
team sports in the world. The original game of Lacrosse was often played with 100s of players on the
field. The games were played between different villages or tribes. The rules varied as well as the field
of play. Goals were sometime miles apart. Sometimes a game was used to resolve disputes and could
last days.

Baseball
Baseball is often called the "National Pastime" of the United States. A sport that was mostly invented
in the United States, baseball is considered a big part of the USA's history and culture.

Baseball is a sport that combines many different physical and mental talents. Many players are
specialists like the pitcher who specializes in throwing the ball accurately to the hitter, but also
making the ball difficult to hit. Some players are good at hitting home runs while others are experts at
fielding. It's this combination of skills and team play that make the game complex and interesting.

Baseball is different from many other major sports, like basketball and football, in that there is no
clock.

The playing field in baseball is made of an infield and an outfield. The infield is defined by 4 bases that
form a square. This square is called the baseball diamond. The bases are called home plate (this is
where the batter stands), first base, second base, and third base. The runners advance to each base in
order. In the middle of the infield is the pitcher mound. Once the batter hits the baseball in play, the
batter becomes a base runner. The defensive team, or fielders, try to get the base runner out before
he/she can get to the safety of a baseThe winner of the baseball game is the team with the most runs
at the end of the final inning. A run is scored for each player who safely crosses home plate. If the
game is tied another inning is played until there is a winner.

Ice Hockey
Ice hockey is a sport played on an ice rink with ice skates. Players use hockey sticks to propel a flat
hockey puck on the ice and into a goal. At the end of the allotted time, the team with the most goals
wins the game.

Ice hockey is a very popular sport world wide. In the United States and Canada hockey is popular at
both the college and professional level. Hockey is a very fast and exciting sport. Hockey players skate
at very high speeds, running into each other with great force.

The object of hockey is to have the most goals at the end of the final time period. There are three
time periods in hockey. If the game is tied at the end of the three periods, the tie may be broken in
overtime or in a shootout.

Each hockey team has 6 players on the rink at a time: the goaltender, two defensemen, and three
forwards (left, right, and center). Although the defensemen are primarily defenders and the forwards
are primarily goal scorers, all the hockey players are responsible for whatever action is happening on
the rink.

Each hockey player wears skates, pads, and a helmet at all times. They each have a hockey stick as
well which is how they hit and guide the puck. The puck is a flat smooth hard rubber disk. Hard slap
shots can cause the puck to travel at speeds of 90 miles per hour or more.

Cheerleading

Cheerleading is known as an activity for American college students, cheering on their team
from the side of a sports pitch by waving pom poms.

But that’s way off the mark from today’s physically challenging athletic routines, which are a
spectacle to see and thrilling to participate in.

Cheerleading is a team-based sport combining acrobatics and dance. Many cheerleading

teams compete worldwide in competitions where judges score their two-and-a-half-minute
routines—it’s certainly no longer just a sideline activity.

It also has a strong reputation for promoting self-esteem and confidence in those who take
part, especially because it is a team-oriented activity.

At a typical cheerleading competition, teams perform a 2 and a half minute routine with
music that includes stunts, jumps, tumbling. Teams are judged by a panel of cheerleading
experts on difficulty and execution. The winner in each division gets a trophy and bragging
rights.

All types of cheerleading teams have the option to compete, but not all school-based
cheerleading squads are competitive. School teams perform routines with a cheer with signs,
poms, and megaphones that showcase their sideline skills along with an entertainment
section to music.

American Football

American Football is one of the world's most popular competitive sports. It is mostly popular
in the United States where football is the number one spectator sport. Each year the NFL
championship, the Super Bowl, is one of the most watched events on American TV.

Football is often called a high-impact sport of violence. The football is bought down the field
by runners or by passing until the opposing team tackles or brings the player with the ball to
the ground. Points in football are scored by advancing the football beyond the goal line
(called a touch down) or kicking the ball through a field goal. The rules of the sport are quite
complex and differ depending on the levels of play. Football is a timed sport. The team with
the most points at the end of the time period, wins the game. The game is divided up into 4
periods or quarters with a long "half time" between the second and third quarter.

Football is a true team sport. Most players specialize in a particular position and skill. With
eleven players on defense and offense, substitutions, as well as special teams, most teams will
play at least 30 or 40 players on a regular basis. This makes teamwork and overall team talent
more important than the abilities of any single player.

Touchdown (TD): A TD is scored when a player catches a pass in the opponent's end zone or
runs with the football into the end zone. A TD is worth 6 points.

Field Goal: A team may kick the football through the goal posts for 3 points.
