2017 PERFORMING ARTS CAPTAIN INTERVIEW QUESTIONS

Interviewee

Name: House:

1. What has attracted you to apply for this leadership position?

As you know, I’m passionate about the performing arts, so passionate that I’ve picked
a saxophone to be even more involved in our community- family here at SCHOOL.
Over the 3 years that I’ve been here I’ve seen our community grow in such large
numbers and the thought of having year 7s join us next year is exciting because with a
few more people we can truly take over this school, but also through this position I
believe that I can be a great role model and mentor for these kids.

2. What leadership skills and experience do you bring to this position? (Provide
at least one example of leadership experience/skills either within SCHOOL
College & outside of school).

Well I’ve been middle school president and fyfe vice captain, and I know that makes
me sound title greedy, but it’s not about that, it’s the experiences I’ve had through
these roles and my growth as a person to becoming a true leader. In terms of
leadership skills my strengths are organisation, drive and dedication. Using these, I
strongly believe that I’ve made great contributions to the college as a whole, I’ve lead
my team during athletics day, am consistent in representing the college in and out of
school, sport and music.

3. Explain what you understand to be the role and the work involved in this
leadership position in 2017.

The difference that I see in this role from president to captain, is that it’s directly
connected to such an important community here at SCHOOL. I’m actually unsure of
what happens behind the scenes, but I know that a performing arts captains are
important during school tours. And like I said in my application I believe that I can
take this role further, especially if there is a musical next year, by taking some of the
different jobs and stresses from both of you, from simple tasks like organising the
running list for our different performances during open night school tours, and making
sure that everyone in our community is aware of rehearsal and performance schedules.
I am more than capable of doing tasks like this.

4. Choose an example of where you have shown leadership and talk to us about
the situation
The most recent example and relevant to performing arts is my contribution to the
musical through choreographing Beauty School Dropout and organising the various
gifts. I showed leadership through teaching the dance
