Pressure recommended is 3 bar. Minimum 1 bar with pressure sensor

adjustment.

5.1 Connect air extraction

A mounting flange is provided (diameter 100 mm) in order to interface with a pipe
towards the HEPA filter.

9 WWW.BERTIN-MEDICAL-WASTE.COM
Machine commissioning

STERILWAVE-100 causes a reduction of 20% to 25% in mass on 10Kg of waste or

approximately 2 Kg which corresponds to the evaporation of water during the
phase between 70 °C to 100 °C.

10 WWW.BERTIN-MEDICAL-WASTE.COM
Machine commissioning

The steam exhaust ducting should always have a upward slope, the filter must be
higher than the machine in order to avoid water retention zones in the steam
exhaust circuit.

6 SAFETY CHECKUP

The information below are inside the user manuel:

- Machine is connected to electrical network 3 Phases 400V, with a protection of

40A.
- The main power transformer connected to the Sterilwave should have a neutral
configuration connected to the ground (TT or TN)
It is forbidden to use IT (isolated from the ground) transformer to supply the
Sterilwave
- Water connection, no leaking, 3 bar
- The position of the rotary switch on the lid interlocking sensor is placed on locked
position

7.2 Microwave test

Before starting this test, place a bucket filled with minimum 3 liters of water, no
metallic part on the bucket. Some plastic bottle can be used also.

Close the lid physically and lock the lid on the screen, then press next screen. If the
lid is already close physically, open it then close again

Press “Launch MW” to start the microwave, “Filament Supply” button will appear,
press it and then “High Voltage”.

The green symbol means the microwave signal is good. If it stay red, check the
microwave components (transformer, capacitors, diodes, magnetron, wiring)

The value TR indicate the temperature of the magnetron itself. It will increase till
100 degree then stabilized. The temperature is regulated by the fan on the front
panel.

Machine commissioning

Microwave components are placed behind the safety panel:

7.3 Motor test

First make sure the tank is empty.

With “Maint” login, in manual mode, you can test the motor rotation and check
the motor current. This is used to detect a mechanical hard point present on the
bearing.

To be able to run the motor:

-the trapdoor should be closed and

15 WWW.BERTIN-MEDICAL-WASTE.COM
Machine commissioning

-the lid should be closed and locked

Go on manual mode, second screen then press “speed order” and put 500rpm for
example:

The motor will start. Check the value of motor current, it should be under 10A.

Try also at 1000rpm, then at 1200rpm. Motor current under 15A.

7.4 Trapdoor test

With “Maint” login, in manual mode menu, it is possible to check the trapdoor
function.

Press “open trapdoor”:

The trapdoor will be activated and the trapdoor will open.

Machine commissioning

Once the trapdoor is open, press “Close trapdoor” and check if the movement of
the trapdoor is smooth and the closed position is aligned with the tank:

8 MACHINE TEMPERATURE OFFSET

The 100°C setpoint has to be calibrated because of mechanical construction.

This calibration can be done by adding water inside the waste to reveal the steam
creation point, which indicates the 100°C inside the tank.

Water volume added to the normal waste loaded: SW100 → 3 Liters

By adding water inside the waste, the tank temperature will stabilize at a point for
several minutes, which indicates the steam creation point.

On this curve, the temperature stabilize at 97 degree for more than 30min.

Please note this value then subtract it from 100.

17 WWW.BERTIN-MEDICAL-WASTE.COM
Machine commissioning

For example:

Displayed temperature = 97°C →100-97=3. Then the machine offset is 3.

Report this value in parameter P086, on screen 8 of machine parameters, and

press save parameter.

9 STARTING FIRST CYCLE

To start the cycle in automatic mode, check the different points :

- machine supplied with water
