OPTS2031 - Business Research Methodology
BRM Project Brief
The project emphasizes the need to understand the research process to solve business
problems. This project reinforces the research methods covered in the BRM course and
expands your horizons by identifying research problems and resources required to complete
this project. The team-based project will expect in-depth engagement with relevant
knowledge in research methodology and will help students build the skills needed for
collaborative and multidisciplinary work.
The learning objectives for the BRM team project are:
1. To enable students to understand how to identify research problems and frame
research questions, objectives and hypotheses.
2. To teach students to select appropriate research designs and methods to investigate
their research problems.
3. To apply critical analytical, problem-solving and research skills to solve the problem.
4. To develop skills to report research findings and overall documentation of research
work.

Project review:
The project would be reviewed at six stages.

Project Guidelines
1. This team project involves every student in the team to contribute to the project. Students
are expected to work in teams throughout the semester. All the submissions should be done
in the Moodle. Every student in the team needs to submit all phases of the Research project.
Team members must cooperate with each other in contributing to complete the research
project. Everyone in the team is responsible for everything.
2. Templates for each phase of the research project will be shared in Moodle. All the teams
strictly follow the template.
3. Feedback on team members' contributions from each team member will be collected
anonymously, which will also be considered for project assessment. The cross discussion
among teams is not encouraged as the project assessment is based on relative performance
by the teams.
4. Teams must identify a research problem to perform the project. Teams can select any
real-time problem like pollution, waste management, product failures, customer demand
analysis, customers’ tastes and preferences, etc. The first chosen will be retained if there is
any duplication in topics/problems.
5. Teams must strictly submit each “stage submission” for review before 9:00 PM on the given
submission date.
6. Students are expected to utilize numerous data sources to collect supported literature from
academic journals, books, government (country) and non-government sources (UN, World
bank, IMF, WTO etc.), internal company records, consulting, legal and advertising firms,
country-specific internet sites, trade statistics, embassy resources, etc.
7. Students are strictly prohibited from copying the content from other sources like websites,
projects from online sources etc. Students are prohibited from generating content from
open AI sources or ML softwares. If any such cases are found, the entire team will lose full
marks without further excuses.
8. The reports will be checked for plagiarism and allowed up to 10 per cent only.
9. Edit the document with proper spacing, alignment, font type, and font size. The final report
must be submitted in pdf format. The report presentation also carries a weightage of marks.
10. Strictly follow the instructions given below to edit the report.
The entire report and all the review submissions should be in:
● A4 size paper with normal margins.
