Diesel Oil System Operation
Diesel Oil System Operation
Diesel Oil System Operation
INTRODUCTION
The Diesel Oil System is put in place to care for the internal supply of Diesel oil fuel to BSDG, EDG
generator, Diesel oil Fire Pump, and also receive Diesel oil from external source which is provided by
Tankers when they come to the Station to unload. The system consists of the following:
1) Unloading of Diesel oil into Main Diesel storage tank.
2) Transfer of Diesel oil to Emergency Diesel storage tanks
3) Transfer of Diesel oil to BSDG day storage tank
4) Transfer of Diesel oil to diesel Fire pump storage tank.
Description The diesel oil will be unloaded through flexible hose from the road tanker to the main diesel oil
storage tank (10EGB03BB001) by diesel oil unloading pump (10EGA01AP001). Oil level is measured through
Level transmitters (LIT-10EGB03CL001, LT-10EGB03CL002) in the main oil storage tank. The diesel oil stored
in main oil storage tanks will be forwarded, by Diesel oil transfer pump (10EGC10AP001/10EGC20AP001),
to various diesel oil day tanks for EDG, BSDG and day tank of fire fighting pump diesel engine.
1) Ensure there is Power supply in BSDG/EDG 415V ACDB at EDG breakers room.
2) Align the following valves properly.
3) Connect unloading Pump (10 EGA01AP001) suction hose to the discharge hose of the Tanker.
4) Confirm hand isolating valve (NC) (10 EGA01AA001) open.
5) Confirm duplex Filters are open (NO).
6) Confirm suction hand isolating valve (NO) 10EGA01AA002) open.
7) Confirm discharge valve (10EGD02AA003) open.
8) Confirm By-pass hand isolating valve (NC) (10EGA01AA003) remain close.
9) Confirm hand isolating valve after the NRV is open.
10) Confirm main Diesel mass storage tank inlet valve (NO) (10EGD02AA004) open.
11) Confirm Drain valve (NC) (10EGR02AA401) Close.
12) Turn Diesel oil unloading Pump Breaker handle to “CLOSE” position.
13) Select Breaker Knob either to Local or Remote operation position.
14) Local for local operation and Remote for remote operation.
15) Where the Oil tanker has in-built Pump, hand isolating valve (NC) (EGA 01AA003) should be
opened.
16) Confirm suction valve (10EGA01AA002) and Discharge valve (10EGA02AA003) should be closed.
17) Initiate START.
18) Confirm the flow of oil to the necessary tank.
The Diesel oil transfer pumps will be operated manually/automatically from local relay-based control
system. Each pump will be provided with facility for Auto-Manual operation. Auto/ Manual selection shall
be provided in the relay based local control panel (LCP) Duty-Standby selection will be possible for each
pump. Duty/Standby selection will be done from the relayed based LCP.
Standby pump will be started automatically on low discharge pressure on common header or when
running pump trips. Manual start/stop operation of each pump is possible from Relayed based LCP.
Start Up checks/Operation
Description
Diesel oil from the common supply header is supplied through inlet ball valve (10EGD30AA001,
10EGD30AA004, 10EGD30AA007) to the black start DG set and to the emergency DG sets day tanks. The
Day tank supplies diesel oil during Emergency / Black start conditions to the DG set.
Start Up checks/Operation
5) At the Diesel Oil LCP select Transfer pump one or two (Your Preference)
8) At the BSDG/EDG LCP, turn Diesel Oil Transfer Breaker handle to “Close” position
10) At Diesel Fire Pump house, open Diesel storage tank inlet valves (2Nos)
As already stated, that it is intermittent operation. Every time pumps stopped following care shall be taken
Note: BSDG, EDG and FDP day tanks inlets valves should be close after the transfer of
diesel.
