SUMMARY
 Mechanical engineering PhD with materials specialization. 6 years of process metallurgy, applications, and
business development experience. 10+ years of material characterization experience.
 Managed heat treatment operations in a high-volume bearing manufacturing facility and managed metallurgical lab
of 4 direct report metallographers. Acted in a dual role as process engineer and quality lead for the heat treat
department.
 Led continuous improvement projects in the department leading to permanent cost savings of $300k/year by
reducing cycle times, optimizing heat treat process and reducing consumption/cost of consumables.
 Led projects for increased product quality through R&D support. Projects involved enhanced residual stress,
design of case depth profile and grain size/texture optimization leading to increased rolling contact fatigue life of
bearing components.
 Sales and marketing experience in the metals, combustion and heat treatment markets for technology applications
using industrial gases.
 Strong background in material characterization, failure analysis and root cause investigation. Experienced in
continuous improvement, quality standards and process development.
 Maintained and developed process and quality standards to comply with industry standards such as CQI-9, ISO
and IATF requirements.
 Led internal quality audits for the heat treatment department for compliance with customer quality standards and
maintaining ISO certification
 Act as metallurgical quality liaison between the supplier and customer by identifying steel quality issues as well as
product failures and root cause investigations.
 Monitor and report on quality related key performance indicators including scrap monitoring, rework levels, parts
per million (PPM) figures. Report using 8D to adhere to process and prevent occurrence of any non-conformity
relating to product, process or system.
 Materials testing and failure analysis experience using industry standard techniques such as mechanical stress and
fatigue testing, nano-indentation, micro-hardness testing, AFM as well as cutting edge experimental techniques
such as Synchrotron XRD (Argonne National Lab).
 Published in leading peer-reviewed scientific journals and presented at multiple international conferences.
 Excellent teamwork and leadership skills, solid communication skills and strong background of supporting
customer requirements in multiple research and development projects.
