    AND MARRIAGES ACT, 1953.

    THE TELANGANA REGISTRAR GENERAL OF BIRTHS,
    DEATHS AND MARRIAGES ACT, 1953.1

    ACT No. VIII OF 1953.

    1. (1) This Act may be called 2the Telangana Registrar Short title, extent
    General of Births, Deaths and Marriages Act, 1953. and
    commencement.

    (2) It extends to the whole of 2the State of Telangana.

    (3) It shall come into force on such date as the


    Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette,
    appoint.

    2. (1) The Government— Establishment of a


    general Registry
    Office and
    (a) shall establish a general Registry Office for

    keeping such certified copies of registers of births and Registrar General
    deaths registered under 3the Telangana Registration of and sending
    Births and Deaths Regulation, 1359F. 4the Greater certified copies of
    Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Act, 1955 (II of 1956) or entries of births
    and deaths to that
    any other law for the time being in force or of marriages

    Deaths and Marriages Act, 1953, in force in the Telangana area of the
    State of Andhra Pradesh as on 02.06.2014, has been adapted to the
    State of Telangana, under section 101 of the Andhra Pradesh
    Reorganisation Act, 2014 (Central Act 6 of 2014) vide. the Telangana
    Adaptation of Laws (No.2) Order, 2016, issued in G.O.Ms.No.46, Law (F)
    Department, dated 01.06.2016.

    (b) shall appoint to the charge of that office an officer


    to be called the Registrar General of Births, Deaths and
    Marriages for 5the area to which this Act extends.

    (2) Notwithstanding the provisions of any other law for


    the time being in force true copies certified in the prescribed
    manner of all entries of births and deaths registered after the
    commencement of this Act under the Telangana
    Regulation II of 1359F. Registration of Births and Deaths Regulation, 1359F. the
    Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Act, 1955 (II of
    1956) or under any law for the time being in force shall be
    sent by the prescribed officer at prescribed intervals to the
    said registry office as soon as possible after the entries are
    made.

    Indexes to be kept 3. The Registrar General of Births, Deaths and Marriages


    at the general shall cause indexes of all certified copies of entries in
    Registry Office. registers sent to his office under sub-section (2) of section 2
    or under the Special Marriage Act (3 of 1872), the Indian
    Christian Marriage Act, 1872 or the Parsi Marriage and
    Divorce Act, 1936 to be made and kept in his office in the
    prescribed form.

    shall be sent by the prescribed officer at prescribed intervals
    from the Office of the Registrar General of Births and Deaths
    to the Office of the Registrar General of Births, Deaths and
    Marriages;

    (b) The provisions of section 6, so far as it permits the


    general superintendence by the Registrar General of Births,
    Deaths and Marriages over the Registrar General of Births
    and Deaths shall be deemed to be omitted.

    8. The Government may make rules to carry out the Power to make
    purposes of this Act and in particular and without prejudice rules.
