1. DEFINITIONS

1.1. ‘Aggregate Score’, for the purposes of Preliminary Rounds shall refer to the
sum total of the Cumulative Speaker Scores as mentioned in Rule 10.3 below
and Net Memoranda Scores as mentioned in Rule 7.5 below.
1.2. ‘Compendium’ shall refer to the compilation of authorities cited by Teams in
their Memoranda.
1.3. ‘Competition’ shall refer to the 6th TNNLU-CCI National Moot Court
Competition, 2023, which shall be organized by Tamil Nadu National Law
University, Tiruchirappalli between March 22nd to 24th, 2024 on university
campus.
1.4. ‘Court Master’ shall refer to the student volunteer who shall be entrusted with
duties such as maintenance of order in the courtroom during a round and
informing the speakers of the time duration for which they have spoken.
1.5. ‘Memoranda’ shall refer to the written arguments submitted, on behalf of both
parties according to the Rules of the Competition by each team.
1.6. ‘Oral Submissions’ shall refer to the Competition rounds during which the
teams orally submit their pleadings in front of the judges on behalf of one of
the parties against another team representing the opposing party.
1.7. ‘Organizers’ shall refer to the faculty-in-charges and student members of the
Moot Court Committee, TNNLU, along with any other person involved in the
conduct of the Competition.
1.8. ‘Scouting’ is deemed to occur when any person related to a Team is found:
1.8.1. Observing or Witnessing the Oral Submissions of a round other than the
one where the Team he/she is related to is participating.
1.8.2. Reading the Memoranda of any other Team other than the one obtained
through exchange of Memoranda.
1.9. ‘Substantial Plagiarism’ shall refer to Plagiarism which at the opinion of the
Organizers is Substantial.

2. GENERAL

2.1. Eligibility: Students enrolled in a three-year or five-year undergraduate law


course or its equivalent, conducted by any recognized
college/university/institution are eligible to participate in the Competition.
2.1.1. Any college/university/institution, whose students fulfil the eligibility
criteria or for exceptional circumstances have been deemed by the
Organizers to be eligible for this Competition, shall be entitled to send only
ONE (1) team to the Competition.
2.1.2. Students enrolled in a postgraduate law course or its equivalent, or in
diploma courses, or in possession of license from any Bar Council to
practice before any Court(s) shall not be eligible to participate.
2.2. Team Composition: Each team may comprise a minimum of TWO (2) and not
more than THREE (3) members. The team composition may be of TWO (2)
speakers only or of TWO (2) speakers and ONE (1) researcher.
2.2.1. After the date of Final Registration has lapsed, no change in team
composition shall be permitted unless certain extenuating circumstances
exist and the Organisers have approved such change.
2.2.2. A Researcher may be allowed to argue during the Oral rounds under
certain extenuating circumstances with the permission of the judges.
2.2.3. In case a team does not comprise of a researcher, Teams may designate
one of the speakers as a Researcher and the speaker so designated shall be
permitted to take the Researcher’s Test.
2.3. Language: The Competition shall be conducted in the English Language ONLY.
All Memorandums, Compendiums and Oral Submissions shall be in English.

3. REGISTRATION

3.1. Provisional Registration: all Institutions interested in participation may


provisionally register themselves by sending an email to [email protected]
and thereby reserve a slot for the institution on or before 11:59PM (IST) on 11th
February 2024.

3.1.1. There shall be a cap on the number of teams. The number of teams shall
be restricted to TWENTY-FOUR (24), based on a first-come first-serve
basis of provisional registration done by institutions. Only the teams that
had completed provisional registration within the cap (i.e., the first
twenty-four teams) shall be permitted to proceed to final registration
formalities.
3.1.2. If an institution fails to provisionally register within the cap on the
number of teams, it shall be placed on a waitlist. If any of the teams that
had completed provisional registration within the cap fails to finally
register within the stipulated time, the institutions placed on waitlist shall
be permitted to proceed with final registration formalities.
3.2. Final Registration:
3.2.1. Participation in the competition shall be finally confirmed only on the
filling of this Final Registration Form on or before 11:59PM (IST) on 25th
February 2024.
3.2.2. Further, the teams shall be required to pay a fee of INR 4,500/- (inclusive
of Accommodation) towards registration prior to filling of the form and
attach proof of payment while filing the aforementioned Final Registration
form. This fee shall be non-refundable in case of withdrawal by a team.
3.2.3. The fees shall be payable through any of the following means:

3.2.4. All registered teams shall be intimated of their Final Registration via
Email upon completion of the Registration formalities.
3.2.5. All registered teams shall be required to submit a Bonafide
letter/Authorization Certificate from their Institution authorizing their
participation in the Competition.

4. MOOT PROPOSITION & CLARIFICATIONS

4.1. The Moot Proposition shall be released on 28th January 2024. Teams may use
this link to access the Moot Proposition.
4.2. The Proposition is neither intended to nor does it attempt to resemble any
incident or any person, living or dead. Any such resemblance is purely
coincidental. The Proposition is a fictitious scenario prepared for the purposes
of this Competition only.
4.3. The Participants shall not make any attempt to contact the drafters of the Moot
Proposition. Non-adherence to this rule will lead to immediate disqualification,
at the discretion of the Organizers.
4.4. Clarifications regarding the Moot Proposition may be sought by the teams till
11:59PM (IST) on 18th February 2024 via an email to [email protected] with
the subject ‘6th TNNLU-CCI NMCC, 2024 - Clarifications.’ The Clarifications
sought by the teams shall be released and circulated by 22nd February 2024.

5. COMPETITION FORMAT
5.1. Each participant team shall submit Memoranda in accordance with Rule 6
below. All teams irrespective of Memoranda scores shall participate in Oral
Submissions in accordance with Rule 9 below (i.e., there shall be no
elimination on basis of Memoranda scores).
5.2. There shall be an exchange of Memorandum between opposing teams prior to
all the rounds of the competition. The teams are strictly prohibited from

making any copies of the exchanged Memoranda. The teams shall not write,
take notes or tamper with the exchanged Memoranda.
5.3. The Oral Argumentation shall consist of the following rounds:
5.3.1. TWO (2) Preliminary rounds
5.3.2. Advanced rounds, which shall consist of the following:
5.3.2.1. Quarter-Final rounds
5.3.2.2. Semi-Final rounds
5.3.2.3. Final rounds
5.3.3. The manner of conduct of these rounds are specified in the Rules 5.4. to
5.8. below.
5.4. Preliminary rounds:
5.4.1. There shall be TWO (2) Preliminary rounds that shall be attended by all
the teams participating in the Competition.
5.4.2. The teams shall be given opportunity to argue from both sides of the
Moot Proposition (i.e., the teams shall represent Informant/Appellant in
one round and Opposite Party/Respondent in another).
5.4.3. The fixtures for the one of the Preliminary rounds shall be determined
through a ‘Power match-up system’ based on the Gross Memoranda
scores. In a ‘Power match-up system’, the best ranked team will go against
the least ranked team, the second best ranked team shall go against the
second least ranked team and so on (for e.g., if the competition consists of 24
teams, the fixtures will be as follows: T1 v. T24, T2 v. T23, T3 v. T22 …).
5.4.4. The fixtures for the other Preliminary round shall be determined
through a ‘Slide match-up system’ based on the Gross Memoranda scores.
In a ‘Slide match-up system’ the best ranked team shall go against the best
ranked team after the median of teams, the second best ranked team shall
go against the second best ranked team after the median of teams and so
on (for e.g., if the competition consists of 24 teams, the fixtures will be as follows:
T1 v. T13, T2 v. T14 … T12 v. T24).

5.4.5. No team shall face the same opponent twice in the Preliminary rounds.
Further, no team shall argue before the same bench twice in the
Preliminary rounds.
5.4.6. In order to determine the rankings of teams in Preliminary rounds, a
‘Points-based marking system’ shall be used, as enumerated in Rules 5.4.7.
to 5.4.10. below. The teams with more points shall be ranked higher.
5.4.7. Each round shall consist of a maximum of NINE (9) points that can be
obtained by the teams, in the manner prescribed below. Of these, a
maximum of THREE (3) points shall be awarded for difference in
Memorandum scores. The remainder SIX (6) points shall be split into
THREE (3) points awarded for difference in Oral Submission scores for
each Judge in preliminary rounds.
5.4.8. If the difference in Memorandum scores of the teams facing each other
is equal to or exceeds seven percent (7%) of the maximum obtainable score,
then THREE (3) points are to be awarded to the team with the higher
Memorandum scores. If the difference in Memorandum scores is less than
seven percent (7%) of the maximum obtainable score, then TWO (2) points
are to be awarded to the team with the higher memorandum scores and
ONE (1) point is to be awarded to the other team. If there is no difference
in memorandum scores of the two teams then the teams will be awarded
ONE DECIMAL FIVE (1.5) points each.
5.4.9. If the difference in speaker scores of the teams facing each other as
awarded by each judge in the Preliminary Round is equal to or exceeds
seven percent (7%) of the maximum obtainable score, then THREE (3)
points are to be awarded to the team with the higher speaker scores for
that judge. If the difference in speaker scores is less than seven percent (7%)
of the maximum obtainable score, then TWO (2) points are to be awarded
to the team with the higher speaker scores and ONE (1) point is to be
awarded to the other team. If there is no difference in speaker scores

between the teams, then the teams will be awarded ONE DECIMAL FIVE
(1.5) points each for that judge.
5.4.10. In cases where two or more teams have the same number of points, the
following shall be used to resolve the tie (in that order):
5.4.10.1. The team(s) with the higher aggregate scores shall be ranked
higher.
5.4.10.2. The team(s) with the higher cumulative speaker scores shall be
ranked higher
5.4.10.3. The team(s) with the higher Gross Memoranda scores (shall be
ranked higher
5.4.10.4. The team(s) with the higher score in the criteria ‘Application of
Legal Principles & Usage of Authorities’ as elaborated in Rule 10.1 below.
5.4.10.5. A coin toss shall be used, if the above steps fail to resolve a tie.
5.5. Quarter-Final Rounds:
5.5.1. The EIGHT (8) highest ranked teams from the Preliminary rounds shall
proceed to the Quarter-Final Rounds, as determined by the Rules above.
These teams shall each argue ONCE for the side allotted to them by a draw
of lots.
5.5.2. The fixtures for Quarter-Final Rounds shall be determined by a ‘Power
match-up system’ based on the rankings of the teams in Preliminary
rounds as determined by the Rules above. The fixtures shall be in this
order:
Rank 1 v. Rank 8 (Quarter-Final Fixture I)
Rank 2 v. Rank 7 (Quarter-Final Fixture II)
Rank 3 v. Rank 6 (Quarter-Final Fixture III)
Rank 4 v. Rank 5 (Quarter-Final Fixture IV)
5.5.3. The winners of each Quarter-Final fixture shall qualify to Semi-Final
rounds. In order to determine the winner of each round, a ‘Round-Point
basis system’ shall be used. ONE (1) point shall be awarded to the team

that was scored higher by each judge. The team with more points shall be
adjudged the winner of that round.
5.5.4. In cases where two or more teams have the same number of points, the
following shall be used to resolve the tie (in that order):
5.5.4.1. The team(s) with the higher cumulative speaker scores shall be
ranked higher
5.5.4.2. The team(s) with the higher Gross Memoranda scores shall be
ranked higher.
5.5.4.3. The team(s) with the higher score in the criteria ‘Application of
Legal Principles & Usage of Authorities’ as elaborated in Rule 10.1 Below
5.5.4.4. A coin toss shall be used, if the above steps fail to resolve a tie.
5.6. Semi-Final Rounds:
5.6.1. The FOUR (4) winners from each Quarter-Final fixture shall proceed to
the Semi-Final Rounds, as determined by the Rules above. These teams
shall each argue ONCE for the side allotted to them by a draw of lots. The
fixtures for Semi-Final Rounds shall be as follows:
Winner of Quarter Final Fixture 1 v. Winner of Quarter Final Fixture 4
Winner of Quarter Final Fixture 2 v. Winner of Quarter Final Fixture 3
5.6.2. The winners of each Semi-Final fixture shall qualify to Final rounds. In
order to determine the winner of each round, a ‘Round-Point basis system’
shall be used. ONE (1) point shall be awarded to the team that was scored
higher by each judge. The team with more points shall be adjudged the
winner of that round.
5.6.3. In cases where two or more teams have the same number of points, the
tie-breaks listed in Rule 5.5.4. above shall be utilized.
5.7. Final Rounds:
5.7.1. The TWO (2) winners from the Semi-Final fixtures shall proceed to the
Final Rounds, as determined by the Rules above. These teams shall each
argue ONCE for the side allotted to them by a draw of lots.

5.7.2. The winners of each Semi-Final round shall qualify to Final rounds. In
order to determine the winner of each round, a ‘Round-Point basis system’
shall be used. ONE (1) point shall be awarded to the team that was scored
higher by each judge. The team with more points shall be adjudged the
winner of that round.
5.7.3. In cases where teams have the same number of points, the tie-breaks
listed in Rule 5.5.4. above shall be utilized.
5.7.4. The winner of the Final Round shall be declared as the ‘Winning Team’.
The other team shall be declared as the ‘Runners-Up Team’.
5.8. A team may face the same opponent, it had faced in the Preliminary rounds,
once again in the Advanced rounds. In such cases, the sides which were not
previously argued by the teams, against each other, shall be automatically
allotted and there shall be no draw of lots.

6. MEMORANDA

6.1. General:
6.1.1. Each team shall prepare ONE Memorandum for each side (i.e., the
Informant/Appellant and the Opposite Party/Respondent). The soft
copies of each Memorandum shall be submitted to the Organizers in such
manner as prescribed to the teams latest by 9th March, 2024 11:59 PM (IST)
in PDF format (.pdf) as well as a Word Document (.docx). The manner of
submission of Memoranda shall be notified to the teams at the earliest.
6.1.2. Further, each team must submit FIVE (5) hard copies of each
Memorandum to the Organizers at the welcome desk on 22nd March, 2024.
All hard copies shall be spiral bound and printed on both sides.
6.2. Contents: Each memorandum shall consist of ONLY the following sections:
6.2.1. Cover Page, which in turn may consist of the following:
6.2.1.1. The name and year of the competition
6.2.1.2. The Team Code, as prescribed in Rule 6.5 Below, on the top right-
hand corner

6.3. Style Requirements: The following style requirements shall be met by all
Memoranda, non-adherence to which may attract penalties as prescribed in
Rule 7.2:
6.3.1. Generally, the font shall by Times New Roman (in black), font size shall
be 12, line spacing shall be 1.5 and there shall be 8 pt paragraph spacing
after each paragraph.
6.3.2. For footnotes, the font shall be Times New Roman (in black), font size
shall be 10 and line spacing shall be 1.
6.3.3. The style of footnoting shall be in conformity with ‘21st Edition of The
Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation’. Explanatory footnotes shall be
strictly prohibited.
Example of allowed footnotes: Competition Commission of India v. Bharati
Airtel Ltd., (2019) 2 SCC 521.
Example of prohibited footnotes (explanatory): Competition Commission of
India v. Bharati Airtel Ltd., (2019) 2 SCC 521 (holding that it is within the
exclusive domain of CCI to find out as to whether a particular agreement
will have an appreciable adverse effect on competition).

6.3.4. There shall be margin of ONE (1) inch on all sides and no text shall be
placed within this margin. This shall exclude the Header and the Footer.
6.3.5. Each page shall be numbered. Page numbers till Summary of
Arguments (inclusive) must be in small Roman Numerals (e.g., i, ii, iii).
Page numbers of the Written Arguments and Prayer must be in Hindu-
Arabic Numerals (e.g., 1, 2, 3). Further, there shall be no blank pages
present in the Memorandum.
6.3.6. The entire Memorandum shall be paragraph justified. This, however,
does not apply to the cover page, headings of each section and headings
of each issue/sub-issues argued by the teams.
6.3.7. The Cover Page of each Memorandum shall be in conformity with the
following:

6.3.8. Legal arguments and interpretations of the Moot Proposition shall be
confined only to the Issues Raised, Summary of Arguments, Arguments
Advanced and Prayer sections of the Memorandum.
6.3.9. The Index of Authorities shall contain all the authorities cited in the
Memorandum along with their relevant page number(s). An automatic
Index of Authorities, although not mandatory, is desirable.
6.3.10. The Table of Contents shall contain the page numbers of each heading.
Further, it shall be hyperlinked and direct to the concerned page of each
heading.
6.4. Page limits: The Memoranda shall adhere to the below prescribed page limits
for the following sections:
Statement of Jurisdiction 1 page
Statement of Facts 2 pages
Summary of Arguments 2 pages
Arguments Advanced 25 pages

6.5. Team Code & Anonymity:
6.5.1. Each participating team shall be assigned a team code after registration
formalities have been completed. The Memoranda shall contain only the
assigned team code as an identification mark.
6.5.2. The file names of the soft copy of the Memoranda must contain only the
team code and the side being represented, in the following manner: 07I,
where 07 is the Team Code and I is the Informant. (A/R/I/O shall be the code
used to denote the side represented for Appellants, Respondents,
Informants and Opposite Parties respectively).
6.5.3. Any character, text or identification mark, which reveals the identity of
the participants or the name of institution represented by them shall not
be contained anywhere in the Memoranda submitted.
6.5.4. This also extends to the metadata of the soft copy of the Memoranda
submitted. Teams shall make a conscious effort to remove all metadata
from the soft copy of the Memoranda which reveals the identity of the
participants or the name of institution represented by them. This includes
author’s name, comments, highlights and tracked changes as well.
6.6. Plagiarism: Any substantial similarity, in part or in whole, between a
Memorandum of a team and any other literary work or between Memoranda
of two teams shall amount to plagiarism and substantial plagiarism may result
in disqualification, at the Organizers discretion.
6.7. Copyright: The Organizers reserve the right to reproduce and disseminate the
Memoranda for the purpose of the Competition. The submission of the
Memoranda in this Competition will constitute the consent for the same.

7. EVALUATION OF MEMORANDA

7.1. The maximum score for each Memorandum shall be 100 Marks. The following
criteria shall be used for evaluation, along with their respective weightage:

7.2. Penalties: Violation of Rule 6 shall attract the following penalties after the

7.3. The aforementioned penalties shall be levied only once for any number of
violations unless the contrary is specified.
7.4. The penalties shall be deducted from the ‘Presentation and Formatting’ criteria.
Consequently, even if a Team accrues penalties above TEN (10) marks, the
maximum number of marks deducted shall be TEN (10) only.
7.5. The score obtained by each team for their Memoranda submitted without the
deduction of penalties listed under Rule 7.2 shall be termed as the “Gross
Memoranda Score”. Whereas, the score so obtained after the deduction of
penalties listed under Rule 7.2 shall be termed as the “Net Memoranda
Scores”.

8. COMPENDIUM

8.1. It is not mandatory for the Teams to submit a Compendium of authorities cited.
However, teams are highly encouraged to do so while following the below-
mentioned guidelines.
8.1.1. Teams can either attach the first page and the relevant pages of the
authorities so cited (for e.g., books and case laws) or compile and paste the
relevant extracts in a single word document, as per their discretion.
8.1.2. The cover page of the Compendium shall be in adherence of the
guidelines listed in Rules 6.2.1 and 6.3.7. above. Further, the Compendium
shall also contain an index of the authorities so listed.
8.1.3. Directions regarding Anonymity for Memoranda as stated in Rule 6.5
above shall apply mutatis mutandis to Compendiums as well.
8.2. The Teams need not submit a soft copy of the Compendium and instead they
may submit three (3) hard copies of each compendium to the Organizers at the

welcome desk on 22nd March, 2024. All hard copies shall be spiral bound and
printed on both sides.

9. ORAL SUBMISSIONS

9.1. ONLY English Language shall be used for Oral Submissions.


9.2. Teams shall not be permitted to use any electronic device in the court room
while Oral Submissions are ongoing. Non-adherence to this rule shall result in
instant Disqualification, at the discretion of the Organizers.
9.3. The manner of Oral Submissions shall be as follows:
9.3.1. The team ‘arguing for’ shall present first, followed by the team ‘arguing
against’.
9.3.2. Speaker 1 of each team shall present first, followed by Speaker 2. The
speaking order given by the teams to the Court Master during the first
preliminary rounds shall be used for the reminder of the Competition.
9.3.3. After both teams have completed their Oral submissions, the team
‘arguing for’ shall be provided with a chance to ‘rebut’ the arguments of
the team ‘arguing against’ (“Rebuttals”). After which, the team ‘arguing
against’ shall be provided with a chance to ‘sur-rebut’ the rebuttals of the
team ‘arguing for’ (“Sur-rebuttals”). Provided that sur-rebuttals shall be
restricted to contentions raised in rebuttals alone.
9.4. The team member(s) seated on the table may communicate with the speaker
making oral submission through chits/notes directly.
9.5. The teams shall not disclose during the Oral Submissions, their identity or the
names of the institution they represent. Non-adherence to this rule shall result
in instant Disqualification, at the discretion of the Organizers.
9.6. The time limit for Oral Submissions shall be as follows:
9.6.1. Preliminary Rounds and Quarter Final Rounds: Each team shall be
given TWENTY (20) Minutes for Oral Submissions, which shall be
inclusive of the time for Rebuttals and Sur-rebuttals. Each team shall be
entitled to a maximum of THREE (3) Minutes for Rebuttals/Sur-rebuttals.

The split of time between the speakers shall be up to the discretion of the
teams, but no speaker shall speak for less than FIVE (5) Minutes.
9.6.2. Semi Final Rounds and Final Rounds: Each team shall be given THIRTY
(30) Minutes for Oral Submissions, which shall be inclusive of the time for
Rebuttals and Sur-rebuttals. Each team shall be entitled to a maximum of
FIVE (5) Minutes for Rebuttals/Sur-rebuttals. The split of time between
the speakers shall be up to the discretion of the teams, but no speaker shall
speak for less than TEN (10) Minutes.
9.7. The teams shall communicate the names of speakers as well the split of time
between them along with the time reserved for Rebuttals/Sur-rebuttals to the
Court Master.
9.8. Delay in Appearance: In case a team participating in Oral submissions fails to
appear to the designated venue within TEN (10) minutes of the scheduled time
for commencement of each round, then the team may be disallowed to present
their Oral submissions, at the discretion of the Organizers. The other team shall
make their Oral submission Ex-Parte instead.

10. EVALUATION OF ORAL SUBMISSIONS

10.1. The maximum obtainable score for each speaker shall be 100 Marks. The
following criteria shall be used for evaluation, along with their respective
weightage:
Application of Legal Principles and Usage of 25 Marks
Authorities
Knowledge of Facts 20 Marks
Structure, Articulation and Clarity 20 Marks
Ingenuity and Response to Questions 20 Marks
Court Etiquette, Presentation Style and Time 15 Marks

10.2. These scores shall be used in the ‘Points based Markings System’ and
‘Round-Point basis system’ to determine the advancement of teams from each
round of the Competition as stated in Rule 5 above.
10.3. The sum total of the score received by both the speakers from each judge
in a round shall be termed as the “Cumulative Speaker Score”.

11. RESEARCHER’S TEST

11.1. The Researcher’s Test shall be conducted on 22nd March 2024 via pen
and paper format.
11.2. Only the participant designated as Researcher shall be allowed to sit for
the Researcher’s Test. In case a team consist of only Two Speakers, then one of
them shall be permitted to sit in the Researcher’s Test.
11.3. The duration of the Researcher’s Test shall be One (1) Hour. It shall
consist of both objective and subjective questions based on the facts in the
Moot Problem and the applicable Laws.
11.4. The highest scoring Researcher during the Researcher’s Test shall be
designated as the ‘Best Researcher’.

12. AWARDS

12.1. The teams shall be eligible for Awards, as determined by Rules 12.2 to
12.6 below. The following Awards, along with cash prizes shall be given:
Winning Team INR 40,000/-
Runners Up Team INR 30,000/-
Best Researcher INR 10,000/-
Best Speaker INR 10,000/-
Best Memorandum INR 10,000/-
12.2. ‘Winning Team’ shall be determined in accordance with Rule 5.7.4.
above.
12.3. ‘Runners Up Team’ shall be determined in accordance with Rule 5.7.4.
above.

12.4. ‘Best Researcher’ shall be determined in accordance with Rule 11.4.


above.
12.5. ‘Best Speaker’ shall be awarded to the speaker securing the highest
cumulative marks in the two preliminary rounds.
12.6. ‘Best Memorandum’ shall be awarded to the memorandum with the
highest Net Memorandum scores.

13. MISCELLANEOUS

13.1. Decision of judges in relation to evaluation of Memorandums and Oral


Submissions shall be final and binding.
13.2. No member of a team or any other person related to the team shall
engage in Scouting. Non adherence to this rule will lead to immediate
disqualification, at the discretion of the Organizers.
13.3. The entire team shall be deemed to be notified or informed of any detail
or information concerning the competition if any one of the members of a team
is notified or informed of the same.
13.4. The dress code of the competition shall be formals. The participants shall
adhere to it throughout the competition as follows:
Women Black Western or Indian Formals of similar shade
Men Black Western Formals with Black Tie
13.5. In case of any doubt in the understanding or interpretation of any matter
concerning the Competition, the final decision shall lie with the Organizers.
13.6. The Organisers reserve the right to amend, alter, vary or change, the
Rules governing the Competition, which shall be communicated to the teams
within a reasonable period of time.
13.7. The Organizers shall be the final arbiters of these Rules and any decision
made by the Organizers with respect to the interpretation of the Rules shall be
final.
13.8. The participants shall adhere to the guidelines for competition, notified
by Organizers from time to time throughout the period of competition. Further

they shall maintain decorum and conduct themselves in a manner befitting the
legal profession during the rounds of the Competition.
13.9. Participants shall adhere to the Tamil Nadu National Law University
Sexual Harassment (Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal) Policy, 2023.
They shall be provided with copies of the same along with a brief overview of
its salient features.
