per month as a tax. Calculate his monthly salary if income tax is

7. Two boats M and N leave a port at the same time. Boat M sails at 30km/h
on a bearing of 037 ̊ and boat N sails at 20km/h on a bearing of 140 .̊ Find
the distance between boat M and N after 3 hours.

9. The bus fare per passenger(F) is partly constant and partly inversely
proportional to the number(N) of passengers. The fare per passenger for
40 passengers is K240 and for 50 passengers is K200. Calculate the fare
per passenger if there are 200 passengers

10. A businessman wants to buy up to 300 ear rings for his shop. He
has K 6000 to spend. There are two types of ear rings available one type
costing K30 each the other costing K10 each. He wants to buy at least
100 of each type of ear rings.
i. By taking 𝑥 to represent expensive ear rings and 𝑦 to represent
cheaper ones, write down four inequalities that satisfy the given
information in addition to 𝑥 ≥ 0 and 𝑦 ≥ 0

ii. using a scale of 2cm to represent 50 units on both axes, draw


graphs on the graph paper provided to show the region bounded by
the inequalities by shading the unwanted region.

iii. If he makes a profit of K10 on the expensive ear rings and K5 on


the cheaper ear rings, how many of each type of the ear rings
should he buy to make maximum profit.

11.Figure 4 shows a cuboid whose dimensions are 6cm by 8cm by 10cm.

12. The first three terms of a GP are the first, fourth and tenth terms of an
AP. Given that the first term is 6 and that all the terms of the GP are
different, find the common ratio.
