Measurement of CRP is of use for detection and evaluation of inflammatory disorders and associated diseases, infection and tissue injury
Patients with higher hsCRP concentrations are more likely to develop myocardial infraction and severe peripheral vascular disease
For diagnostic purposes, the results should always be assessed in conjunction with the patient’s medical history, critical examination and other findings.
Limitation:
Criterion: Recovery within ±10% of initial values at CRP levels of 5.0 mg/L
Icterus: No significant interference up to an I index of 60 (approximate conjugated and unconjugated bilirubin concentration: 60 mg/dL)
Hemolysis: No significant interference up to an H index of 1000 (approximate hemoglobin concentration: 1000 mg/dL)
Lipemia: No significant interference up to an L index of 600
Rheumatoid factors up to 1200 IU/mL do not interfere
No high-dose hook effect is seen up to a CRP concentration of 1000 mg/L
In very rare cases gammopathy, in particular type IgM (Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia), may cause unreliable results
Although measurers were taken to minimize interference caused by human anti-mouse antibodies, erroneous findings may be obtained from sample taken from patients who have been
treated with monoclonal mouse antibodies or have received them for diagnostic purpose.
Value Rechecked.
Sample Type:Serum
Test has been performed on COBAS6000
