POLICE LED LIGHT

Abstract
LED-based lighting is becoming very popular in the emergency services for several reasons. Light-emitting diodes are small, completely solid state, very power-efficient, long-lasting (as they have no filaments to burn out) and can be seen very easily even at great distances. Whether as light bars or single beacons, LEDbased lights typically use a clear, colorless dome because the light color is an intrinsic property of the LEDs themselves LED lights are often used
in a mode similar to conventional strobe lights, however they can be programmed with a wider variety of flash patterns because of their ability to be switched directly by electronics, as opposed to discharging a capacitor through a gas-filled tube.LED lights produce relatively

The 555 Timer IC is an integrated circuit (chip) implementing a variety of timer and multivibrator applications. The IC was designed by Hans R. Camenzind in 1970 and brought to market in 1971 by Signetics (later acquired by Philips). The original name was the SE555 (metal can)/NE555 (plastic DIP) and the part was described as "The IC Time Machine".[1] It has been claimed that the 555 gets its name from the three 5 k resistors used in typical early implementations,[2] but Hans Camenzind has stated that the number was arbitrary.[3] The part is still in wide use, thanks to its ease of use, low price and good stability. As of 2003, it is estimated that 1 billion units are manufactured every year.[3] The 555 has three operating modes: Monostable mode: in this mode, the 555 functions as a "one-shot". Applications include timers, missing pulse detection, bouncefree switches, touch switches, frequency divider, capacitance measurement, pulse-width modulation (PWM) etc Astable - free running mode: the 555 can operate as an oscillator. Uses include LED and lamp flashers, pulse generation, logic clocks, tone generation, security alarms, pulse position modulation, etc. Bistable mode or Schmitt trigger: the 555 can operate as a flip-flop, if the DIS pin is not connected and no capacitor is used. Uses include bouncefree latched switches, etc.

little heat when in use. In colder inclement climates, this has resulted in LED emergency vehicle warning lights (as well as traffic lights) being obscured by the buildup of frost or snow, raising safety concerns. Solutions are being researched to provide a heat source, as necessary in certain weather conditions, to keep LED lights clear of snow and frost Introduction In this project we are using 555 timer IC and 4017 IC decade counter, resistors of 470 ohms, led, transistors and connecting wires. 555 timer IC Pin connections

When you are familiar with the 4017, you will be able to think of lots of useful applications. Internally, the 4017 contains five bistable subunits. These are interconnected in a pattern known as a Johnson counter. The outputs of the bistable are decoded to give the ten individual outputs. Features A. Automatic counter correction B. Tolerant of slow clock rise and fall times C. Fully static operation D. 5 V, 10 V, and 15 V parametric ratings E. Standardized symmetrical output characteristics F. Operates across the automotive temp. Range -40 C to +125 C G. Complies with JEDEC standard JESD 13-B H. ESD protection: I. HBM JESD22-A114E exceeds 2000 V II. u MM JESD22-A115-A exceeds 200 V BC547

just one of the individual outputs is HIGH at a time. This is quite different from the behavior of a BCD counter like the 4510 in which it is the combination of 0's and 1's which represents the count. As you can see, the 10 output is HIGH for counts 0-4 and LOW for counts 5-9.The 4017 is an extremely useful device for project work and is used in the Games Timer and in various DOCTRONICS construction kits including the Light Chaser and the Matrix.

First all the connections were soldered according to the pin diagram of IC 555 and 4017 decade counter as follows:

Supply voltage of 9 V or 12V is given. These three circuits flash the left LEDs 3 times then the right LEDs 3 times, then repeats. the flashing can be increase by more discharge time of capacitor Result The result for police led light was achieved, the led started flashing. The left LEDs 3 times then the right LEDs 3 times, then repeats Conclusion Thus we have successfully studied and constructed the police led light and achieved the desired output
