Abstract

The present production and use of energy pose a serious threat to the global environment and consequent
climate change. As nonrenewable energy sources are becoming scarce, there is a need to make major
changes in energy supply and utilization systems. At this juncture flywheel energy storage technology is a
significant and attractive manner for energy’s future sustainability. Energy is usually produced by non-
renewable sources such as petrol, kerosene and nuclear energy which unfortunately create pollution.
Hence, the idea to design and develop a free energy generating system using a flywheel, a AC motor, a
generator coil, an inverter and a rechargeable battery. The initial power to drive the electric motor will
come from the inverter. Then the power output of the generator will be used to charge the battery. The
battery will be connected to an inverter which will convert the DC input into 110V to 230VAC output.
Results on different settings are compared to identify the best scenario that generates usable amount of
energy and adjust on the prototype to meet the needs of the end users. The energy generated can be in
numerous applications such as powering and mobile devices. This study focuses the design and
development of a free energy generator and evaluating the device to identify its possible applications in
future enhancements. The prototype may impact and attract future researchers to work more on the
research of free energy or renewable energy.

Key Words: Flywheel, free energy, energy generation, energy storage, rechargeable battery, inverter.
