BARLEY : Three types of barley are mainly used for making beer . these are differentiated
based on the number of seeds at the top of the stalk. Brewers prefer six-row barley as it is more economical to grow and also it has a higher concentration of enzymes needed to convert starch in the grain to sugar and other fermentable. Barley must be malted before being used to brew beer. Malting is a process of bringing grains to its highest point of possible soluble starch content by allowing it to sprout roots (germinate).
HOPS: Hops are a flowering with whose flowers are used as preservative. Their essential
oils add flavours (bittering hops) and aroma hops are usually dried before use and its bitter flavour effected during boiling.
CLARIFYING AGENT: Some brewers use one or more clarifying agents to the beer.
This process enhances the clarity of the beer and make it bright, some of the clarifying agents are proteins obtained from swim bladder of the fish, mishmash, seaweed , gelatine etc.

SWOT ANALYSIS
SWOT ANALYSIS
STRENGTH
Significant share of the beer market of about 30% by UBL alone. Contract drawing tie-ups in place. National presence with company brands available throughout the country. Well-known brands are Kingfisher larger, Kingfisher strong, Kalyani black larger, U.B.Premium Ice, and London range.
WEAKNESS
Dominant size brand, Kingfisher. Over leveraged position leading to short term cash flow problems. Larger capacity may lead to a problem of over capacity in whiter or rainy seasons.
OPPURTUNITIES
Growing beer market. Tie up with S&N to open export opportunities. Any deregulation in the excise policies with reference to taxation and duty on beer, which could drastically push up demand for the beer.
THREATS
The level of taxes is very high which could render beer unaffordable. Advertising and marketing restrictions. Entry of foreign liquor majors may affect existing market share.
