issue – it can often be a fast track to the real answers your mentee is looking for.

 GOALS-What are your mentee’s GOALS?

o What are your goals for today’s discussion?
o What will give you the most value from today’s session?
o Do you have control over this issue?
o When do you need to achieve this goal by?

 SITUATION -What SITUATION is your mentee facing?

o How do you feel about the situation?
o How can you describe the situation?
o What do you know about the current situation?
o What do you not know about the current situation?

 THINKING -What is their THINKING at this time?

o What options have you considered about the situation?
o What underlying assumptions are you making?
o Think how others would solve this problem.
o Think about how you will measure your success.

 ACTIONS -What ACTIONS are they considering?

o What do you need to do first?
o By when do you need to have this done?
o In what sequence will you do these tasks?
o Can you think of anything that may disrupt your actions?

 RESULTS -What RESULTS do they expect?
