Responsibilities December February: management of communication and media of separate four portfolios: migration support, family, youth and communities. February June: Chosen to create the communication/media strategy for the newly created National Community Detention Program, which allows asylum seekers to live outside of immigration detention centres in government funded community based accommodation while their visa status is being resolved by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship Achievements Ensured that communication and media for the Community Detention Program was appropriate within the political environment, culturally sensitive to asylum seekers and still provided a level of transparency to the Australian public. Created brochure that engaged volunteers to assist Red Cross caseworkers who are providing support to those in community detention. Created information package for non-profit agencies that have been subcontracted to provide services to Community Detention Program clients. During the Queensland Floods, assisted with emergency communications including key message updates for stakeholders and Red Cross website. Following the Queensland Floods, created personalised thank you certificates for volunteers and staff.

Project: National Social Inclusion Week (SIW) a government initiative to increase awareness of exclusion issues Total budget: $50,000 AUD Key stakeholders: key members of Federal and Local Government, including the then Minister of Social Inclusion and Human Services, not-for-profit organisations, media partners, celebrities such as Dr. Jonathon Welch AM (founder of The Choir of Hard Knocks), SIW national and state ambassadors, and local communities around Australia. Responsibilities Provide strategic multi-faceted communication strategy and implementation at a national level Management of all pro-active and reactive media relations Build and maintain productive partnerships with a range of external stakeholders from the corporate, government and third sector. Foster community engagement through communication activities and by planning events that allows the public to participate in SIW activities.
