OPTICAL FIBER CLOSURES
1. General:
This specification covers the material and function requirements for the Fiber Optic
Closures used in the modern fiber optic transmission networks.

2. Features:
 Closures are suitable for non-pressurized aerial, buried and underground application
for fiber optic cables.

 Installation on cut and uncut cables.

 Each size with not less than six pre-manufactured cables entries for 6 cables, each
cable entry can be used for up to 4 cables of small diameters using a special multi-
entry kit.

 Possibility for flash-testing and external grounding.

 Sealing of cable entrances are independent from half shell sealing.

 Re-opening and re-closing of the shells without need of re-entry kit.

 Easy installation without special tools.

 Closure can be positioned in any direction for inline closure.

 Installation instruction in both Arabic and English are required as an additional guide
to the professional installer.

 Non –bolt system to closure assembly is preferred "for bolt system, bolts must be
stainless steel ".

3. Function:
 Material of closure body: polypropylene or HDPE.

 Can accommodate up to 12 splice trays.

 Sealing of the cables with mastic tape.

 handle-locking system is preferred.

 Includes strain relief for central member fixing.

 Splice tray holder is to swing into vertical position for easier access to the buffer tube
storage.

 Single access to each splice tray.

4. Protection Categories:
 Type of protection: IP 68 according to IEC 60526. Degree of protection: The letters
IP refer to international protection Identification is by 2 code numerals. First code
numeral describes the degree of protection against contact by persons and solid
objects. Second code numeral describes the degree of protection against water, First
code numeral: 6. Dust-proof (Definition: No dust must enter), Second code numeral:
8. Protected against the effects of continuously immersion in water.
 shall be fully protected from corrosion ( at least 240 hrs. according to ASTM B117)
 It has the ability to counter abrupt climate changes and extreme environment (at
least 100 hrs. according to ASTM G 153)
 fire resistance according DIN 4102 B2
 Density according to ASTM D792
 Tensile Strength according to ASTM D638
 Compressive Strength min 207 Mpa. according to ASTM D695
 Flexural Modulus according to ASTM D790
 Melt flow index according to iso. 1133

 A compliance sheet should be provided to identify degree of compliance


 All supplied technical specifications should refer to the applicable
standards and specifications for the design and testing of the offered
solutions
