PROBLEMS FACED BY THE NGO
Difficulties to get funds: The majority of NGOs have experienced difficulties
in getting enough, and continuous funding in order to do their work. Getting
donors is a hard task, and sometimes dealing with some specific donor’s funding
conditions can be an enormous challenge for NGO’s. Additionally, most of the
non-governmental organizations have a high level of dependency of donors’
funds, that makes them even more susceptible to donors’ behavior.

Lack of proper networking: For some NGOs is difficult to network. Having

poor network with pairs can lead to lack of communication, if non-governmental
organizations do not disclose what they are doing for a certain community, efforts
could be duplicated, conflicts about the ways a certain problem should be faced
in a region could arise, and they could be missing the opportunity to learn best
practices from other NGOs.

Lack of governance: Many non-governmental organizations do not have a

Board. One of the main reasons for that is the difficulty to attract board members
without paying them or providing them some benefits. Having a Board is one of
the best ways to achieve good levels of governance, nevertheless, there is a
significant number of NGOs that does not have a good understanding of
governance, and does not think governance is relevant for their organizations.
Additionally, some non-governmental organizations mismanage their funds
because they spend the money according to the NGOs’ owner directions, without
adequate levels of accountancy and analysis.

Misuse of Funds – It is a common experience that there have been serious

charges of misuse and misappropriation of funds received as grant-in-aid form the
government, foreign donors and raised through their own resources by the most
of the NGOs. These NGOs may reflect its image to other NGOs who are working
with dedication and commitment.
SUGGESTED REMEDIES TO THE PROBLEMS OF NGO

The following are the suggested remedies to the problems of the NGOs in India.

1. The government of India should liberalize the rules and regulations of

grants-in-aid and to sanction more grants to NGOs. At the same time, the
government should appoint commissions of enquiry or committees to cross check
the misuse of funds by NGOs. The member of committee has to supervise and
monitor the activities of NGOs periodically.

2. Young graduates from universities, colleges and schools should conduct the
public seminars, meetings etc., and use the local media to advertise the
importance of volunteerism, success stories of NGOs and encourage people to
participate in voluntarism.

3. At the same time, universities, colleges and schools should collaborate with
NGOs and conduct a campus interviews for the young graduates who are
interested in voluntarism. NSS and NCC should encourage students to participate
in voluntarism from childhood days onwards.

4. In India, 65% of populations belong to rural areas. NGOs, therefore, need to

operate in rural areas on a bigger scale to enlist the cooperation of village people
in making their lives better. At the same time, these NGOs should encourage the
educated young graduates of rural areas to participate in voluntarism. The
government should also give some special provisions for NGOs who are working
in rural areas in getting eligibility conditions for grants.

5. NGOs being a welfare organization should maintain high standard of quality

in service. The government also should recognize those NGOs, by giving awards or
rewards with additional grants. This would motivate the other NGOs to work
efficiently.
6. The government should revise the pay-scales and allowances to the
personnel of NGOs. At the same time some special funds to be allotted for the
NGOs to train the personnel at the grass root level.

7. The NGOs should use of latest technologies like internet, websites etc., for
raising of their funds, to have mutual associations, to advertise their products and
for the selection of efficient personals.

NGOs are the ones who really intend to care the uncared sections and the people
at the bottom of the social stratum. Ours is a developing country which requires
these type of committed, devoted and dedicated organizations for the
development of the country. So, the government, the leaders, the donors, the
politicians and the people should support these organizations and help them to
solve their problems at the grass-root level. Then only we can do something for
the poor , for the needy! I have done my bit, now it’s your turn. Always
remember.
OUR TECHNICAL APPROACH TO THE NGO
PROBLEM STATEMENT

Our main objective to visit the NGO was to talk to them and understand the
problems they undergo in their day to day life .

By talking to them we got to know their problems .

The NGO is conducting free seminars and lecturers in various schools and
institutions to spread awareness against child sexual abuse.

Since the number of sexual harassment of children and rape cases are increasing
day by day the NGO is working hard to spread awareness and to control this.

The NGO are facing problems in spreading awareness such as they cant reach
each and every place regarding this

And the other problem of the NGO was that since there are many students who
are there in that NGO its tough for them to maintain each and everyones health
records.

One more problem they face is of insufficient funds ,since there are many
students in the NGO . They have to take care of their food , cloths , education and
health which is expensive for them without any funds . Many people aren’t aware
of this NGO and this NGO wants to reach out to people who voluntarily want to
donate funds.
Our solution to their problems
We have decided to create a software application which can help the NGO as well
as students in the NGO in many ways.

We will be developing an application with following functions

The application will spread awareness to all schools and awareness and also to
remote areas where we can’t reach.

And another software application for the NGO which will help them maintain the
health records of each and every student precisely their weekly checkup, and a
timetable for them in the application for their daily exercise, one day a particular
exercise .

And an application with a emergency button in their phone by clicking which their
parents or the NGO head will get to their live location .

We are developing a software application which can help the

needy. The features of the application are:

1. SOS feature :
It Is a feature in the mobile application by clicking that the
call will directly go to the police and let them know your location
2. To spread awareness about child sexual harassment to the places where
we can reach
3. To maintain the health record of each and every child present in the NGO
and their routine exercise.
4. A feature that helps students in remote places to get health tips and
maintain their health .

CONCLUSION:
The social innovation project is the sign for the students to explore the reality of
the outer world .

Through this we are made exposed to harsh reality of the society .

Through the course of this whole particular project we all were connected to the
problems of the society emotionally.

We all started to think about their problem and after through discussion with our
teammates we came up with a good solution .

Even though we are not technically sound we ll try to put our maximum effort in
making this prototype successful.

We once again heartly thank each and everyone for their kind support and
cooperation for our project.
