v It involves carefully considering various aspects of urban life, such as land use, transportation,
infrastructure, and community needs.

SCOPE

q The scope of town planning is quite broad and encompasses various aspects of urban
development. It is dynamic and constantly evolving to address the changing needs and
challenges of urban areas.
q It includes land use planning, transportation planning, environmental considerations.

q The town planning analyse existing conditions, anticipate future needs, and work towards
creating sustainable.
q The scope is very vast. It involves :

• Urban design • Environmental planning

• Smart city initiatives • Disaster management
• Land use of planning • Transpotation planning
PRINCIPLES OF TOWN PLANNING

1. Land use zoning : It involves dividing the city or town into different zones or
districts, each with specific regulations and restrictions on how the land can be
used. This helps ensure that different activities, such as residential,
commercial, industrial, and recreational, are appropriately located and
separated to maintain a harmonious and functional urban environment.
2. Infrastructure development: It is a crucial aspect of town planning. It involves
the design, construction, and maintenance of essential physical structures and
facilities that support the functioning of a city or town.
3. Recreation centre: Recreation centers provide a dedicated space for community
members to engage in various recreational activities and promote a healthy and
active lifestyle. These centers often have facilities such as sports courts,
swimming pools, fitness areas, and multipurpose rooms for classes and events.
4. Road systems: The road system is designed to accommodate different modes of
transportation, including cars, bicycles, and pedestrians. It involves the layout and
design of roads, intersections, and traffic flow management. A well-planned road
system considers factors such as traffic volume, safety, accessibility, and efficiency.

5.Transport facilities: They include various modes of transportation such as roads,

public transit systems, bike lanes, and pedestrian walkways. The goal is to create a
well-connected and accessible urban environment that allows for efficient
movement of people and goods. Transport facilities are designed to accommodate
the needs of residents, reduce congestion, and promote sustainable transportation
options.
LITERATURE REVIEW

NOAH AKHIMIEN :
In this research;he observed that ,the integrating town planning principles, such
as zoning regulations, land use planning and urban design guidelines, architects
can create buildings and structures that harmonize with the surroundings
environment and contribute to the overall livability of a city. It emphasizes the
importance of collaboration between town planners and architects to ensure
that architectural development aligns with the broader goals and vision of
urban planning.
